Unique Pipes

The concept behind this webpage is to present photos and descriptions of unique smoking pipes. Some of the pipes are from my own personal collection while others (with the site owner's permission) are ones I have gathered from pipe sites on the internet. Where available, I have copied the descriptions of the individual pipes directly from the websites selling the pipes. I hope you enjoy your time here.

Sincerely,
John

(The pipe at the top of this page was made by Baldo Baldi and is listed on The Italian Pipe website as "Baldo's Way of 'supporting' the anti-smoking campaign!" You can see this and two other "anti-smoking" contributions at http://www.theitalianpipe.com/make/bblab.htm.)

ARMELLINI "Butt" Pipe

This Armellini pipe was described by Knoxville Cigar Company (http://www.knoxcigar.com - pipes@esper.com) as looking like a butt. They had the top photo on their website. I sent them an e-mail asking for a photo more clearly showing the appearance of a butt and they sent me the second photo right above. As they said and as I agree, the butt appearance is most evident when looking at the pipe straight on as a person looking at the pipe smoker would see it. Yes! It definitely resembles buttocks! This pipe was another welcome addition to my collection. ;-)

BALDO BALDI

Uh, umm, I am not going to admit what this pipe looks like to me. Nope, sure won't. ;-) You can view this pipe at http://www.theitalianpipe.com/make/bblab.htm . If you go to http://www.theitalianpipe.com you will find numerous views and a lively commentary on each pipe that is available for sale. The e-mail address is tarek@theitalianpipe.com.

CHAMP

What an amazing pipe this is! I can't decide whether it looks like a bat hanging upside down, ready to take flight, or a starship cruiser. This pipe was offered by JoE Pipe (http://jjallen57.tripod.com/joepipe/ - info@joepipe.com) and sold within ten minutes of JoE issuing his pipe update. And, no, I was not the speedy, lucky purchaser. Here is the write-up that was with the listing:

"The pictures fail to capture just how big and impressive this pipe is.  It's nearly 8" long and almost 3" high.  What an ordeal it must have been to carve, shape, and sand this pipe.  And, what's more, it has excellent grain.  Make sure to check out the close-ups of this pipe, to try and get a feel for its uniqueness -- you won't capture it all, but you might get a taste.  Pipe's in excellent condition; one small wave on bottom of stem and a very small 1mm chip from the back left flange, which you might be able to make out in the first picture.  Size: 7 7/8" x 2 7/8" "

I asked JoE Allen of JoE Pipe where the Champ was made and here is his informative reply, "'Champ' was a brand produced by Larsen & Stigart of Denmark.  From what I've seen, some have the Larsen & Stigart stamped underneath the Champ, while others don't.  Don't think there's any difference, just inconsistent stamping.  They were a 70's outfit I believe, and had a pretty good following."
