Edward Belbruno, PhD., is shown here at work in his Princeton, NJ art studio. The artist, Princeton University mathematician and space orbital mechanics scientist who has worked with NASA, ESA and JAXA on innovative space applications technologies such as the Hiten, SMART-1 and GRAIL spacecraft sent to the Moon, was named one of the "Ten Top Space Science Thinkers" by a magazine. He is the author of the groundbreaking book "Fly Me to the Moon: An Insider's Guide to the New Science of Space Travel" (Princeton University Press, 2007), and the president and founder of Innovative Orbital Design, Inc. [IOD] in Princeton, N.J., and has appeared numerous times on television and radio in connection with major space news events. Dr. Belbruno is the honorary vice president of the National Space Society's NYC chapter [N.Y. Space Society] which he helped re-start in 2000 with Elaine Walker, with seminars at NYU through into 2007 after which they moved to sites in Chelsea.
