Fluoridated water

and FLUORIDATED PRESCRIPTION DRUGS

What harm can a few drops of fluoride in your drinking water do you?

IN GENERAL WE ARE HEARING THAT IT CANNOT HARM US OR OUR KIDS, BUT IN FACT IT IS GOOD FOR US!
HOWEVER, RESEARCHERS NOW REPORT IT IS MORE TOXIC THAN LEAD, ALAR, RED DYE #3, AND ONLY SLIGHTLY LESS THAN ARSENIC.

Concerned people in government agencies and scientific communities, are discussing whether fluoridated drinking water is truly beneficial to health. Many of them are stating it might instead be DANGEROUS. Among those who are now speaking out are:

DR ARVID CARLSSON. A news item dated Aug 2001 stated that DR. CARLSSON OPPOSES fluoridated water. This doctor was co-winner of the Nobel Prize in 2000 for his discovery of dopamine as an important neurotransmitter in the brain.
Dr. HARDY LIMEBACK, Univ of Toronto dental professor who previously SUPPORTED fluoridation for its supposed dental benefits, now OPPOSES it also.

First off, what is this stuff?

Fluoride is a waste product of industries such as aluminum companies. As nasty as the truth is, a profitable deal was made years ago to dump that waste into tap water, this on the basis that in places where fluoride (the natural mineral) was found NATURALLY in water supplies, people had less tooth decay. HOWEVER, the industry by-product is not natural, and it is a HEAVY METAL. It is an ENZYME TOXIN, now suspected to be linked to various serious illnesses that seem to be on the increase, and eluding medical cures.

WHEN I DISCUSS THIS TOXIN WITH PEOPLE, I AM SURPRISED THAT SOME SHRUG AND REMARK 'WE'VE BEEN DRINKING IT FOR YEARS" - as if that makes it all right.

A brief blurb appeared in the prestigious magazine "McCall's" (3/2000), by an M.D. who said there's no reason to panic if your bottled water lacks the mineral fluoride. She actually called that chemical/poison a 'mineral', and said you should take fluoride supplements to make up for the fluoride you're missing in your drinking water. My personal opinion, based on the wealth of information I've gathered, is that her suggestion reveals her ignorance of this topic. She should have done some homework before giving her opinion.
(Subsequently I proposed to submit to McCall's an article giving both sides of the fluoride argument. McCall's wasn't interested. Neither was my suburban newspaper this year(2003); the editor thought I'd be too biased to write an objective article.)

This is astonishing: Some bottled-water companies are adding fluorides to their 'pure water'. I asked one rep Why?, and he answered, "BECAUSE PEOPLE WANT IT." One bottler of NURSERY WATER is adding fluorides to its bottles. Based on recent research, you can decide whether you'd want your infant drinking this stuff.

BRITA company, producer of one of the top selling filter pitchers now tells us (see their box & website): "BRITA pitchers remove only a trace amount of fluoride...Many bottled waters do not contain levels of fluoride recommended by dentists."

The truth is, not that fluoride is so good for us that BRITA is doing us a favor, but that only reverse osmosis removes fluoride. And that is probably not a cost effective process for a filter.

SHOW AND TELL!....
Do you suspect (or know for certain) you have had a bad experience linked to fluoridation (in drinking water or otherwise)? Write, it'll be posted here. Thanks for sharing.

Could there be a connection?

*From an R.N.: Her daughter has perfect teeth, not a cavity in sight. But she suffers from fibromyalgia.
(Incidently the owner of this page is hypothyroid and has fibromyalgia. Water connection? Can't swear to it, of course, but maybe.)

*From a young mother: She asked her doctor why her daughter's teeth had lost so much enamel, since she had been taking vitamins containing FLUORIDES, which is supposed to prevent tooth decay. Dr. said, "She must have gotten too much of it." Mother said, "Thanks a lot!" This same woman, only in her early 40s, has osteoporosis, which, if you look into this subject, is one of the disorders now believed to be linked to excessive fluoride in your body.

A mother from Allentown PA writes: Two years ago her son's pediatrician prescribed fluoridated water for his teeth - or lack of. So the whole family began drinking it. The mom has had 3 miscarriages, and she says she was horrified to recently discover the harm fluoride can cause pregnant women.
