ONCE AGAIN, DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE....

New York City, NY, Saturday, August 5, 2006 -- I was at the Strand Bookstore in Greenwich Village today, buying a review copy at half-price of the book "The Rock From Mars: A Detective Story On Two Planets" by Kathy Sawyer about a Martian rock meteor found in Antariticia and declared in 1997 to possibly contain ancient fossils from Mars. There's a chapter in the book titled "DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE." As I picked up the book, the very next book which caught my attention on the shelves had a bookcover with a blue water pool in the shape of a RABBIT's HEAD. It was titled "Playground Childhood's: Lost Inside the Playboy Mansion" by Jennifer Saginor.

ALICE'S WHITE RABBIT IN A QUANTUM HOBOKEN

Hoboken, N.J. & New York City, NY, Saturday, August 19, 2006 -- Today I visited famous close encounter and UFO artist David Huggins, a friend, in Hoboken, New Jersey, hometown of Frank Sinatra (who sang "Fly Me to the Moon!" and a song with Bing Crosby about a spaceflight to Mars in the 1956 movie "High Society").

The photo here is of some of Huggins' UFO paintings now on exhibit at the Every Thing Goes Book Cafe and Music Stage on Staten Island.

Since I arrived in Hoboken two hours early, on purpose, I went for the first time to the Barnes & Noble bookstore there, gravitating to the science section. It was there, to my delight, that I found one copy of an old quantum physics book classic, published back in 1985: "Quantum Reality: Beyond the New Physics -- An Excursion into Metaphysics... and the Meaning of Reality" by Nick Herbert.

Once again, I was utterly astonished when I turned to the book's preface and saw a cartoon of a WHITE RABBIT with an Albert Einstein-type scientist. The caption reads: "A frame from 'BENJAMIN BUNNY FACES REALITY": the "Professor' readies Benjamin for a 'reality check'." (page xv)

In Herbert's Preface he writes: "I would like to honor the memory of Randy Hamm, freind and talent anmator whse collaboration on "BENJAMIN BUNNY FACES REALITY," an unfinished animated film which explores some of the same concepts contained in this book, inspired me to think in new directions." (page xiv) Yet another RABBIT in connections with QUANTUM PHYSICS! Like in the books "Alice's Adventues in a Quantumland" and "Mr. Thompkins in Wonderland" by famous physists, to name just two, and in the movie "What the Bleep: Down the Rabbit Hole."

There is no doubt in my mind now: I am buying this book, using a gift card given by a friend for my recent birthday!

Later, to introduce chapter 13, "The Future of Quantum Reality," Herbert quoes from the "Reality Calypso" from "Benjamin Bunny Faces Reality": "Strikes at the source of daily confusion/ Eliminates ignorant fantasy/ Scrubbing your senses free of Illusion/ Enjoy the taste of Reality..."

As I was leaving the bookstore after buying the book, leaving the doors a man rushes out calling me. Did I do something wrong, I thought? It turns out that the man was inside the bookstore and he noticed that I bought a book on quantum physics. He tells me that he is planning a public forum in October in Hoboken on QUANTUM PHYSICS featuring the director of the Rose Center's Hayden Planetarium, Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson, the famous astrophysicist who will be the feature speaker at the Allies In Space program at the City Uuniversity of New York's Graduate Center on Novemebr 4. I tell him that as President of the National Space Society's NYC Chapter, I will be introducing the program. It turns out that the Dr. Tyson, author of "Origins" and other science books, and he have been friends since they were 17 years old! WONDERLAND'S WHITE RABBIT IN HOBOKEN

After touring the hip and trendy Washington Avenue retail strip in Hoboken, I visited David Huggins, viewing his latest close encounter paintings and talking about rare hard-to-find old science movies on video.

At his house, in the living room, there is artwork by another artist with photo images and the words of CONEY ISLAND on the coffee table, which I noticed when I first visited David in June. Then, as we're walking along his residential street, heading for the PATH train to NYC to see a 2005 Russian science fiction movie, "First on the Moon" ("Pervye na lune"). We pass a school, named the "Calabro Academy School."

On its outdoor marquee is a huge technicolor painting of the WHILTE RABBIT from ALICE IN WONDERLAND looking at his POCKETWATCH. [from the Walt Disney 1951 movie. The photo shown here was taken by GARY of England during his trip to Disneyland in California early last year]. Once again, I am flabberghasted!!!! David Huggins, a fast walker like me, has no idea why I suddenly paused in amazement. I wish, as a journalist, that I had my digital camera with me.

Then I realized, connecting the sync-dots into a meaningful pattern, that yesterday I received an announcement in a postal mailing from the LEWIS CARROLL SOCIETY of NORTH AMERICA (of which I am now a member -- well it was inevitable that I would be!) that its annual national meeting in NYC is on November 4, the exact same date asour Allies In Space Program with Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson!

Then, at the "Russian Fantastik Cinema" Film Festival at Lincoln Center that evening of the showing of the 2005 movie by Alexei Fedorchenki, "First on the Moon" about a fictional secret Soviet spaceflight to the Moon in 1938 by CCCP cosmopilot Ivan Kharlamov, who was lost but returned unknowingly to Earth, the film begins with an historical review of the rocket, from ancient China until Konstantin Tsiolkovsky. In the medieval Russian account of "Fish, Birds & RABBITS," there is mention of ROCKETS.

The film's historical review ends with a RABBIT in a SPACE-SUIT prepared for a test spaceflight!!! We're hopping along that Wonderland Bunny Trail in Space, synchronistically, with the WOW! Contact alive and well, still communicating its prescence here on Earth to us...

A WHITE RUSSIAN RABBIT'S "COSMIC VOYAGE" By HAROLD EGELN New York City, Thursday, August 24, 2006 -- Today I saw another early Russian science fiction movie, on the last day of the marvelous "From the Tsars to the Stars: A Journey Through Russian Fantastik Cinema at Lincoln Center's Walter Reade Theater. The 1935 movie "Cosmic Voyage" ("Kosmicheskiy Reis"), which takes place in 1946 with great special effects, is the wonderous and realistically portrayed story of renegade space traveler Pavel Ivanovich's vovage to the Moon in defiance of of restrictions imposed by "Moscow's Institute of Interplanetary Travel," rocketing into space with a woman scientist and a brilliant teenaged boy. Seminal Russian space travel theoretician Konstantin Tsiolkovsky served as film's sciene consultant just befre his death, He was the author of "Outside the Earth" upon which "Cosmic Voyage" is based. Before the first human lunar voyage there are small test rocketplanes fired into space. The movie shws one which came back from a 100,000 kilometer trip into space, Rocketplane 127. The space animal passenger is a WHITE RABBIT. Once again, as in so many science fiction movies ("ET" in 1977, "Red Planet Mars" in 1953, "Roswell" in 1994, "Supergirl" in 1984, "Missile to the Moon" in 1958, "Contact" - in the Carl Sagan book in 1985 and others), a RABBIT is shown near the beginning of a space-themed movie! We also have the recurring "spiritual number" 27 in the 127 number of the small spaceship. Invanovich, after seeing the WHITE RABBIT, the first animal in space, says, "I am not a BUNNY." A white cat is sent off in the next rocketship and disappears, like the CHESHIRE CAT. He s later found to have suvived his trip to the MOON by the trioka of Russian cosmonauts.

NOTE ON "WOW! CONTACT" ACCOUNTS September 4, 2006 -- The "WOW! CONTACT" continues steadily, if now unevenly and sporadically, in 2006, mostly focused in NYC.
