My German Shepherd, at 15 months
Cierra was a "Fila Brasileiro" breed. That is a Brazilian Mastiff. They are the "National Dog" of Brazil. This breed is considered a "Personal Protection" dog. Which means she allows NO strangers in the house or near her owner,or to touch her. It is a natutal instinct with this breed, they do not need to be taught to "protect." Cierra was 213 lbs & retired from the Rare Breed Show Ring in 2000. She was in the show ring at 3 months old, & continued until she was 4 years old. She has over 53 Dog Show Winner ribbons to her name. Cierra especially liked "LuLu," her best friend, our cat.
This breed is NOT for "socially active people," & must be Obedience Trained, because of their protective nature & size. This is NOT a breed for anyone to own, experienced Dog owners only, with "Alpha Control."
Cierra passed away at age 7.5 yrs old.
The Brazilian people have a saying for their National Dog : "Faithful as a Fila."
Because The "Fila Dogs" are always in search
of their owner.
On her grave stone, I put for all to see:
"Faithful as A Fila."
No Other words Stated It As Well.

"RARE BREED DOGS"
ARE NOT LIKE "AKC DOGS."
Their Temperaments are geared towards "Protecting Their Owners Naturally."
NEVER assume a "Soft Temperament" dog has "NO TEMPERAMENT !"
Many times their temperaments may not show themselves till 3 years old. This causes "uninformed" owners to get rid of these breeds. Unfortunately, many Rare Breeds are difficult to place in foster homes or shelters,
& are euthanized.

A "GOOD BREEDER", of ANY BREED, is one who informs you of the dog's temperament, health issues, & allows you to see the parents.

"SEMINARS & LOCAL SCHOOL VISITS"
Donna Lawson has donated her time to speak to school children & young adults about "Dog Behavior," She has spoken over the years at several Cape May & Atlantic County area schools, & to local Animal Shelter staff & Animal Control Officers, & Law Enforcement Staff also.
Over the years she has removed several dogs from abusive situations to re-home them for a better life. Many times her stories about these pets can be seen in various local papers & magazines.

"Fila Brasileiro", owned & handled by Donna Lawson, won "WINNERS BITCH" in June 2000 at
"The Cherry Blossom Classic" in Washington, DC.
This is the largest "RARE BREED Dog Show" in the Nation, held once per year, with some very heavy competition from all over the USA & visitors from other countries.
This dog show is equivilant to the AKC,
( American Kennel Club,)
"Westminster Dog Show."
2000 was Cierra's Third & Final year in the show ring. I am very proud of all her wins, but this one especially. She beat out competitors from several Well Known American Kennels & Handlers From Brazil, & other countries.
She loved being in the Showring!
"Roxy" is a Timberwolf hybrid. She is 4 years old, very loveable, & well trained. Wolf Hybrids are NOT for everyone, and they do NOT respond to humans & training as "dogs" do. They are quite independent pack animals. They are stunning, amazing animals to watch. Please DO NOT get a wolf hybrid without learning about them. Many times they end up in shelters, & are destroyed, because of owners Lack of knowledge. Roxy was placed in a new home in 2007, in the mountains with other wolf hybrids & is very happy.
"Prince" is a 12 year old "White Arctic" Wolf Hybrid.
He is the first hybrid I had any contact with. I have learned much about this breed while spending many hours with him, over the years. HE does not allow anyone to touch him, but myself & his owners.
" JUST JACK" was the newest member of my family. He was a rare breed dog,
A "Shiloh Shepherd."
Jack was with us a short time, before he was diagnosed with Bone Cancer. He passed away in my arms with kisses, on Sept 4, 2007.
He is buried next to my Fila, Cierra.

Kelsey is an 8 month old Irish Wolfhound, owned by Betty Pinto of Somers Point. This is the tallest breed of them all. He is still growing, only a pup.
