At our San Antonio reunion business meeting in September 2004, several proposals were made and approved by the membership that merit your special attention. The major one was to fund a plaque to be dedicated to our beloved ship on the Commemorative Wall at the US Navy Foundation in Washington DC. This plaque was unveiled at a special ceremony that was held on September 16, 2005 during our reunion in September in that city. Some of you are already familiar with the Navy Foundation and it's website: www.lonesailor.org.. On an individual basis, you may have already elected to enter your service record into their LOG for your progeny and all to see. All plaques are the same size, 3.75" x 7", and are black and white. Their Graphic Designer, at our direction, has provided the black and white layout found herein. Though not to scale, this is how the plaque will look. The minimum cost of a wall plaque is $2500 and all contributions are tax deductible. With an initial payment of $500, we were able to reserve a prominent space at eye level on the wall at location 30L. We would like to advise you of our action and solicit further contributions for this worthwhile project. You may wish to purchase a replica on your own. Should you care to contribute, You can still do so, by forwarding a check to the Secretary of the Robert L Wilson Association.
