American Society of Artists is a national professional membership organization. The American Artisans (crafts division) is an integral part of American Society of Artists. Membership is juried and includes the ASA ARTISAN, a quarterly publication with information for and about members.

Special Arts Services Division was originally formed as a separate division to encourage involvement for artists with disabilities. However, it was totally incorporated into American Society of Artists as a whole with our Director of Special Arts Services overseeing the fact that we retain a unique awareness in this area.

The Lecture & Demonstration Service includes a select number of members who present lectures, demonstrations, workshops and/or seminars for various organizations. Members are invited to apply for participation in the Lecture & Demonstration Service.

A.S.A. also provides various other services for its members including a number of art shows and art and craft shows and for 35 years has presented over 165 shows in the North Michigan Avenue/ Downtown Chicago area as well as many more shows in Illinois including the Suburban Chicago area.

For 29 years American Society of Artists has presented art and craft shows in Missouri and in the Greater St. Louis Area as well as throughout Illinois. Shows and other functions of the Society are overseen by our highly qualified Area Representatives/Show Officials, themselves talented artists and craftsartists.

Each event is juried and is open to qualified non-members as well. Qualified members and others assist greatly with each event, serving as show officials and helping with various other aspects of the shows.

American Society of Artists has been in existence for over 36 years and changes to suit the needs of its membership. We have, at various times, also had galleries, including on Michigan Avenue, in which members exhibited and sold their work and a showroom in the Merchandise Mart for members' work.
