The First Sons of the God & Goddess.

SUPERMAN (Kal-El):

(Favorite son, God of the Sun, Truth, Justice, & American Way.)

After the main Gods come the secondary deities, their children & various demi-gods and lesser
entities.

First is Kal-El, Oldest son of Uncle Sam (after all his real father came came from the sky) and Lady
Liberty.

He follows the classic journey of the hero as outlined by Campbell.

This diety holds the spot in the American pantheon that was held by such gods as Thor,
Horus, Apollo, Jesus Christ, Hercules. The god of the people.

CAPTAIN AMERICA:

(God of War, Patriotism, and the Past. `Jingoism.')

The other son of Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty,

Who would think that a character created by Simon and Kirby in 1941 for a comic book would
gain such heights?

But as the sub-conscious of America does seem to more easily appear in the more common and
less regarded forms of literature such as the comics or the pulp magazines.

Here we have a character that was just one of hundreds, and yet while the others are forgotten
he is still around and remembered, and used as a symbol in other areas as well.

It is interesting to note that Captain America's weapon is a device used for defence. This, I am
sure means something, though I am hard pressed to say just what that might be.

Wonder Woman

WONDER WOMAN:

(Women's Mysteries, Womanhood, Goddess of Truth & Justice.)

The daughter of Uncle Sam & Lady Liberty she is the sister of Kal-El and the Captain. She is the
Goddess of truth and the protector of women's mysteries.

As the twins Artemis and Apollo were the female and male versions of the same force in the Greek
mythos, so Superman and Woman Woman are the twin brother and sister of the American mythos
it would seem, and with the red, white & blue outfit perhaps a bit of Captain America as well.

Wonder Woman takes her being from the American heroines who preceded her such as
Annie Oakley, Amelia Earhart, Nelly Bly and others amplified to the Nth degree as is required of
both gods and American pop heroes.

Created by the same person who invented the first `lie detectors.' Fortunately she was able to
grow beyond his seeming obsession with B&D and take on a life of her own.

So that she was able to become an icon of the early feminist movement.

The Blonde Bombshell

THE BLONDE BOMBSHELL:

(Goddess of Sex, Love, Lust, and Tragedy)

She is not a child of the God & Goddess, nether is she the sibling of ether of them. I guess it would
only be proper to say that she is an elemental force that was not wanted by the Puritan and later
victorian sensibilities that formed American, but could not be stopped.

Her avatars seem to mainly appear as blonds, but this is not always the case as shown by Betty
Page (brunette), Lana Turner (red head) or Dorothy Dandridge (black.)

However there does seem to be an element of tragedy in almost all her earthly daughters.
Punishment from the undercurrent of greasy Puritanism that saturates the mortar that holds the
brickwork of America together?

Starting with Lilly Langtree and moving on through almost countless other avatars, such as Jean
Harlow, Mae West, Lana Turner, Marilyn Monroe, Mamie Van Doren, Blonde, Madonna, Britney
Spears to name ONLY a few, through form after form she appears again and again, America's
white goddess, our home-grown Venus.

Ahhh? What's up Doc?

BUGS BUNNY:

(Trickster God, demon animal, Patron Saint of Cross Dressers)

The tradition of the shape-shifting trickster, that is expressed by such deities as Loki in Norse
mythology or the Spider in African finds expression in the American pantheon as that
wascally wabbit, as well as the demon animal that in the past had even given a hard time to such
gods and demi-gods as Orion, and Hercules. Only ours it most likely to be found troubling the
pompous symbols of this culture.

While Bugs is perhaps his most well known form as a shapeshifter he is not limited to just that and
has been know to also take the form of mouse, duck, moose and whatever the hell Yakko, Wakko
& their sister Dot are suppose to be.

The job of the American trickster seems to be to think the thoughts and do the things that they say
can't be thought or done.
