the phone. I reached out picking it up I heard, a voice say, "they are here can you come now?" I quickly dressed, running out the door getting in the car driving off listening to the motor roar. It was cold the roads covered with snow. The drive seemed endless in my haste to get their. As my thoughts kept saying over and over again. I should have gone with them, but I stayed. I could still hear there laughter as they left. Like two children going on a campout. As Dad teasingly patted Moms rump saying, "dear you must do something about this". She aswered patting his beer belly, "what would I do without you dear." I watched as Dad opened the door for Mom, and as she got in he gave her a kiss on the cheek. She looked up at him with so much love in her eyes, in her smile. I watched as they drove off, stopping at the end of the driveway, to wave to me, and blow kisses in the wind. As loud as I could I said, "I Love You" see you tomorrow. I did not know tomorrow would never come. Or that I would never see them again. I was left with sweet memories of love. More than enough to fill a lifetime. More than forever to share. More than eternity to give. Endless as time. I was left a legacy of love. I stayed, and they went on together the way it was meant to be. Dad opening the car door, giving Mom a kiss on the cheek. Mom looking at Dad with so much love in her eyes, in her smile. I stayed, but I got to see them drive off, in a chariot of gold pulled by four white horses to their heavenly home. Why am I writing this poem, well you see, today is their, "Anniversary". "Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad" ..with all my Love, Your Daughter No one you love is ever really gone as long as you keep them in your heart where it is warm. You see in the end, we will all be together again. Not remembering where you have been. written by: Paula aka Angel of Love June 16, 2003 |
