We have been involved in this breed since 1991, and have tightly line-bred and in-bred off of our first generation foundation AmStaffs - (Gunnar & Brittney.) This way of breeding for nearly 9 years, has given us an opportunity to venture outside of our breeding program, thus introducing new bloodlines in order to help maintain the integrity of our Van Gunn line.
VAN GUNN American Staffordshire Terriers is dedicated to the betterment of the breed through the careful selection of quality in the AmStaffs that are going to be bred by us. Evaluating our dogs' overall soundness in proper structure, good health, and stable temperament, and in having our dogs evaluated by judges at conformation shows, or by proving their ability in the Rally and Obedience ring, or in other performance events, further demonstrates the dependability and strength of this line.
    First and foremost, our goal is to raise AmStaffs with wonderful temperaments, and sound health, including correct structure, that are a joy to live with. Secondly, our goal is to produce a versatile AmStaff that can be competitive in conformation as well as in ALL AKC performance events,
(including Drafting - which several AmStaffs we've bred, have titled)
   It is very important that the AmStaffs we produce retain the 'proper' working temperaments in having the ability to compete in various events, as well as be a good representative of the breed. While you may be seeking a companion for your family and have no intention to ever show your AmStaff, breeding for the overall health, versatility and temperament helps us to produce what an American Staffordshire Terrier should truly be: AN ALL-AROUND GREAT DOG!    When we decide to breed one of our girls, we do so with purely selfish intentions, in hopes of getting a pup for ourselves that represents our ideal AmStaff.  Because of this, we may keep 2, 3 or more out of each litter - until the appropriate time needed for determining which pup would offer the most for our future breedings.  We never breed any of our AmStaffs to just sell the entire litter of pups and we are very particular about where our pups are placed.  We may ask you a lot of questions about how your puppy will live with you, so please do not be offended if you are seriously interested in obtaining one of our AmStaffs.  If you are interested in having one of our AmStaffs become a part of your family, we encourage you to email or phone us, as we would enjoy an opportunity to speak with you further.  All of our breeding AmStaffs are "Completely" Health tested through OFA - Certification. **OUR PUPPIES AND ADULTS ARE USUALLY SOLD ON "LIMITED" REGISTRATION - AS WE STRICTLY ADHERE TO A VERY SERIOUS BREEDING PROGRAM, CONSISTENT WITH WHAT WE ARE CURRENTLY PRODUCING AND HOPE TO CONTINUE. WE FEEL OTHERS MAY NOT BE ABLE TO "SHARE" OUR BELIEFS ON BREEDING..THEREFORE NOT BEING ABLE TO MAKE A CONTRACTUAL COMMITMENT WITH ONE OF OUR MALES OR FEMALES **........ PLEASE NOTE:
