ADDING THAT HUMAN TOUCH........

FORGOTTEN AMERICANS

500,000 Mexican-Americans served the United States Armed Forces during World War II, includying D-Day in which Steven Spielberg, like many other directors, ommited Latino Veterans....a sheer example of disrespect and ignorance.

Among other groups also forgotten for their contributions, inlude Native-Americans for their help in creating secret codes to confuse the Nazis, along with Japanese-Americans, who despite having their relatives put in internment camps, and facing stiff prejudice, still served our country.

ASIAN AMERICANS....DIVERSE HISTORY

Ranging from the early California Chinese immigrants at the beginning of the new Califronia itself (post Mexico), to Japanese Americans, Vietnamese immigrants/ refugees to Korean immigrants, America's Asian American community is far from new, yet has grown tremendously after the lifting of quotas limiting immigrants from Asia in the past.

AFRICAN-AMERICANS

Did you know an African-American invented the street signal?

Did you know that the first successful open-heart surgery was performed by an African-American, Dr. Daniel Hale Williams- Surgeon ( 1856 -1931)?

Did you know an African-American invented the washing machine?

SPORTS

There are many types of sports, but two things most have in common is the need for a court and a ball. Basketball, golf, soccer and tennis all require both. What is great about all these sports is that both men and women can play them both and have a great deal of fun.

PROUD FATHER

Both my Father and my Mother have given me incredible values. Good men get shortcanged during father's day.....what's a tie compared to the huge Mother's Day celebrations. Both need to be cherished/ acknowledged.

Argentina is in an immigrant nation. It is predominantly of Italian descent, with sizable Spanish, Jewish, Middle Eastern and German descendants.

Brazil has the highest population of African descendants in the world outside of the continent of Africa, it also has one million Brazilians of Japanese descent.

Columbia, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Venezuela ( Maria Carrey is half Afro-Venezuelan), Belize and the Dominican Republic all have very sizable Latinos of African descent.

Mestizos and Native Americans are the other, more common affiliations with Latino backgrounds.

BASEBALL

Baseball is a good sport to play beacause you get healthy. One way baseball makes you healthy is by making you run. If one tries hard enough, maybe one day one can become a professional baseball player.

If one wants to be a professional baseball player one day, one has to work very hard. For example, one has to practice catching the ball with the mitt. One must also be able to run very fast to catch the ball and also, one mus be abe to run fast in order to make a Home Run.

If players fall down sometimes, they can get scratched or even be injured more seriously. But most of the injuries one can get used to them. If you are a good and nice player, maybe people will come and tell you they want to be just like you and you will be proud of yourself.

There is good pay for professional players, this is good. But even if one looses, it is fine as long as you play the GAME, it is all about the SPORT.

LATINOS ARE INVISIBLE ON ENGLISH TELEVISION

Will this generation ask the same question Desi Arnaz asked 50 years ago when people originally scorned the idea of Latino on T.V.?

Latinos are everywhere, close to 23 million strong, yet nowhere to be seen, ranging from the native-born in Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, New York or California, to the newly arrived immigrants.

It is a joke watching T.V. and not seeing the millions of Latino Paramedics, newswriters, electrical workers, nurses, lawyers, construction workers, teachers......in the US of A.

THE FIRST COWBOYS WERE VAQUEROS

The first cowboys/girls in America were Latino/ Mexican.

Mexican vaqueros, or cowboys in English, were later joined by both Anglo and African American Cowboys/girls. The vast majority where Anglo and Latino though.
