The Mayas, the Toltecs and the Aztecs had among the most advanced cultures in the world prior to the Spanish Invasion.
The Mayas were incredible architects, mathematicians, astronomers and great city planners. The Mayas originated from southern Mexico in the Yucatan Peninnsula.
In sharp contrast to the relatively peaceful Mayas, the Aztecs, from central Mexico, were far more imperialstic and did offer human sacrifices to their gods.

The Toltecs, also from central Mexico ( AKA Mexico City area), were taken over by the Aztecs. Neither the Mayas or the Toltecs offered human sacrifices.
In northern Mexico you had tribes like the Yaqui Tribe that icluded the state of Sonora and into present day Arizona. ( My mother's side of the family is from the U.S./ Mexico before the U.S, took over nearly half of Mexico's territory).
California. Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, among other prime locations, were property of the Mexican Government. A man by the name of Santa Ana sold of his country to anglo settlers in Texas who demanded autonomy from Mexico despite the Mexican Government having accepted them as guests.
Traditional Mexican Family Values
No one country is free from societal ills, yet traditionally, Mexico has valued family time with uttermost regard. Needless to say, there are plenty of dysfunctional families, just like any other society.
Yet what stands out the most upon returning from Mexico, is the higher level of respect given to adults, specially the elderly, by most children in Mexico compared to the United States.

OVER 1 MILLION NEW VEHICLES SOLD IN MEXICO IN 2004. 9TH LARGEST AUTO INDUSTRY.
Heavy, advanced, labor intensive manufacturing
has been taking place in central Mexico for
decades prior to any NAFTA agreement.
In the 1960s the Mexican government outlawed imported vehicles beyond the 25
mile border region.
As a result NISSAN Mexicana, GM de Mexico, Ford Mexico, Chrylser de Mexico and Volkswagen de Mexico set up manufacturing plants in Mexico to sell cars in Mexico.
Mexico did not begin exporting its automotive
production until the late 1980s and went full
fledged in being a global automotive industry
player by the mid 1990s.
As of 2004, Mexican automotive production exceeded that of the United Kingdom or Italy, with a total of 2,134,927 vehicles produced. Local sales set a record as well.
Sales in the year 2004 in Mexico topped out at 1,286,576 new units sold, more than half of its own production. ( Source: AMIA, Automotive Industry Assoc.)
