ART EFFECTSHere's another commission by Linda Cassels-Hofmann and Tim Haas of Art Effects |
We are going to hang it on the ceiling, like tiles.
4 feet by 8 feet at a time.
We used airbrush, pre-primed canvas. It worked great for the marble and was very easy to handle.
Precise measuring and then cutting the tile was the first and really the most important thing.
We applied it to the ceiling like you would a canvas mural, using clay base wallpaper adhesive...appling the paste to the ceiling not the canvas. Of course we had to size the ceilings and unfortunately for us hang lining paper because of the texture on the ceilings.
It took longer to figure out the layout then it did to hang the tile.
Also keeping the colors seperated added to the realistic effect.
This particular ceiling was hard to measure and layout because all sides were a different length.
And its not done yet! We still have to grout...it wouldn't be tile without grout, oh and don't forget the poly...it wouldn't be marble without that shine.
Applying the grout to the living room. We used real grout to keep the color consistent.
Stay within the lines, Tim!
Applying two coats of clear Acrylic Polyurethane
Grouted and clear coated...color it done!
This is the ceiling in the adjoining living room.
The Foyer...
The four ceilings in the living room, amazingly enough all lined up.
