Filk is the combination of fantasy and/or science fiction and fantasy. It is music inspired by the fantastic. It is often a parody of a well-known song using words to describe characters in fantasy or science fiction.
Ok, so that is what I THINK it describes.
I write fantasy and I have songs included or inspired by my fantasy ( ok, sometimes the song is written first and it inspires the fantasy ). Maybe that is filk too.
