2005 CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION

Dear Gerold, On behalf of the entire membeship of the USS Robert L. Wilson DD/DDE 847 Association, I want to thank you for all the time and effort you put in to create a great website for us. At this year's reunion in Washington DC, I heard many comments from our shipmates in attendance about how they enjoy the pictues and information you included on the site. The increase in association membership and the reunion participation of many new and younger Wilson veterans can be attributed directly to the popularity of the website. Enclosed is a certificate of appreciation from the association for creating and maintaining the site. Bravo--Zulu, Gerold, and please keep up the good work. Sincerely, John E Scully, President

Gearing Association members will be interested in a book by a Gearing shipmate, just published, titled
The Last Epic Naval Battle: Voices from Leyte Gulf.
The book is an account of the 1944 Battle of Leyte Gulf from the perspective of 60 surviving sailors—
many of them tin can sailors-- and airmen.
Author David Sears is a Gearing veteran ('69-'71) and the book comes recommended by Gearing veteran Adm. Vern Clark.
It's a must read for tin can sailors! The book's web site can be reached using the following
link:
www.lastepicnavalbattle.com .
Personally autographed copies of the book can be purchased through the site.
