In the name of God Amen.
I, John J. Jack being afflicted in body, but in perfect health of mind and disposing memory and knowing the certainty of death do declare this my last will and testament, revoking all other former wills and Testaments made by me and first after all my just debts and my funeral expenses are paid, I give my dearly beloved wife Catherine my whole estate both real and personal during her natural live (life) provided she remains in my name, but in the event of her marrying again, I bequeath to her one equal third part of affects and real estate, and the residue of my perishable property over and above her third to be sold at public sale and the proceeds to be applied to the support of my seven children, to wit: Salathiel, Mary E., Sarah Jane, Jacob, Thomas, John, and Perry, and secondly, I desire that my land be sold at public sale and the proceeds divided equaly between my seven children as above named, but nevertheless should the youngest child become of age and my wife yet live, the land may be sold by the consent of all parties and an equal division among any children as above named and fourthly, I do hereby make, constitute and appoint my said wife Catherine, my Executrix of this last will and Testament, but I do not wish her to give security.
Inscribed whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal this fourteenth day of December eighteen hundred and sixty one.

At a County Court held for the county of Roane at the courthouse thereof on Tuesday this eighth day of July 1862.
This day the last will and testament of John J. Jack Dec'd was presented to the court and proven by Perry Westall and William Westfal, two subscribing witnesses thereto upon their oaths and on motion of Catherine Jack (widow of the said John J. Jack Dec'd) the Executrix named in said will who made oath according to Law. Letter of adminstration are granted her in due form of law upon the estate of said John J. Jack Dec'd with the examined and certificate is granted to her for obtaining a probate of said will indue form. The said Caterine Jack under the said will not to give bond.
