Catalog cover for the 700 models. Produced in the sixties, this little car that could was successfully raced for a number of years.
The pocket rocket Bimmer that stormed the streets of Europe. Built between 1973 and 1974, this little four-banger two door sedan packed 170 bhp and had a top speed of 131. It only weighed 2381 lbs so it was fairly quick and agile for road racing. Only 1,672 examples were built. Many came with a backwards Turbo logo on the windshield to inform the car in front who was waiting behind them! The same engine set-up was used for the Paul Bracq gull-wing Turbo coupe prototypes that eventually became the famous M1 models.
