Hydroplane racing page

I first drove a hydro, a Swift "Big B", when I was 12. I've been racing with the American Outboard Federation since 1981 and the National Boat Racing Association since it's formation in 2002,

I've raced: from slowest engines to fastest engines (with the same engine a hydro is from 5 to 15 m.p.h. faster than a runabout):

C Service hydro

B hydro and runabout

C hydro and runabout

102 Mod Yamato hydro and runabout

D hydro

E Hydro

Super E hydro

I've also driven several other classes for testing and set up purposes, such as Yamato 80 and 102 stock hydro, D runabout and an APBA PRO class 700cc (D) hydro. Believe me, a 700 at 120+ m.p.h. in a boat a lttle over 13' long and just a few inches above the water will get your attention!

I live in northwest Louisiana and I'm single. Hope you enjoy the pictures. If you'd like more information about anything you see here, please feel free to e-mail me.

High enough?

B&H C hydro

Old C hydro

This is the kind of start all boat racers wish we could get every time! I had just crossed the starting line in this pic and there's not anothr boat in sight. And I did not jump the gun.
(The beach ball is a starting line marker.)

This boat is a B&H, built by Sam Hemp.

I won a bazillion races, and all the National Championships that I've won, with this boat. I sure hated that it finally got too old and newer boats started beating me.
