DISASTER AT WEVACO, WV - Oct. 31, 1951

Wevaco is located on the Cabin Creek in Kanawha County, West Virginia.

On Oct. 31, 1951 disaster struck the night shift of the Truax - Traer Coal Company's United No. 1 Mine at Wevaco. The nature of the disaster was a dust explosion. This disaster claimed the lives of twelve souls.
