SHINBRIER'S SINGING SON

DWIGHT E. HILL

Dwight was born 1932 in Freeman, West Virginia. Moved to Shinbrier, West Virginia at the age of 13. He got his first guitar by selling Rose Bud Salve. He met Joe Compton at an early age. Joe lived up Simmons Hollow and was an accomplished guitar player. Joe taught Dwight to play, and the rest is music history. In their younger years they played radio and television shows in Beckley, Oak Hill and Bluefield, West Virginia. Dwight left West Virginia to pursue his dreams in Nashville, where he became quite successful.

Dwight says, "I played in every beer joint and dog fight in West Virginia. Thanks be to God, Joe and Shinbrier."
