Meet 2x12

Kim Swickard

Vocals, Guitar, Keyboards, and Percussion

Kim the "voice" of 2x12, is native of Akron, Ohio, and even though she is relatively new to both the Central Ky area, and to the music business, she has made quite an impression, on both other performers and audiences alike.

Her musical influences include: Ani DeFranco, Over The Rhine, The Indigo Girls, Janis Joplin, and Michael Kelsey. She is a songwriter and plays guitar. She wrote the song "Eddy" from their debut EP and in addition, wrote songs which 2x12 released on their full-length CD, "Moth To A Flame" "Monster I Could Be" and "Month Of Sunday Nights". She is also writing songs which will appear on their new album including two they are currently performing in their live shows "Cats and Dogs" and "Educated". One of Kim's first public performances was singing at her own wedding. In her short time in the area, Kim with her rich soulful vocal style is finding herself in demand. In addition to her partnership with Gary Fights as 2x12, she performed vocals on Gary's second album on the title track "Over The Edge", she also provided background vocals for the band Underground Angel (formerly KG Group) for a short time before leaving to devote her full attention to 2x12 (though she still sings with the remaining members of that band on occasion). As her skill as a guitar player improves she is planning to do a solo album. Kim has performed as a member of the Hardin Co. Musicians' Guild, and in the Heartland Songwriter's Association Songwriter's Showcases.

Kim is currently writing songs for the new 2x12 project, and for a future solo project.

Outside the music business, Kim is also a Middle School Science Teacher, and raises Show horses with her husband Mark.
