"In each family there is one who seems called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again, to tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve. Doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead, breathing life into all who have gone before. We are the storytellers of the tribe. All tribes have one. We have been called, as it were, by our genes. Those who have gone before cry out to us, "Tell our story!" So, we do. In finding them, we somehow find ourselves. How many graves have I stood before now and cried? I have lost count. How many times have I told the ancestors, "You have a wonderful family; you would be proud of us." How many times have I walked up to a grave and felt somehow there was love there for me? I cannot say. It goes beyond just documenting facts. It goes to who am I and why do I do the things I do. It goes to seeing a cemetery about to be lost forever to weeds and indifference and saying, "I can't let this happen." The bones here are bones of my bone and flesh of my flesh. It goes to doing something about it. It goes to pride in what our ancestors were able to accomplish, how they contributed to what we are today. It goes to respecting their hardships and losses, their never giving in or giving up, their resoluteness to go on and build a life for their family. It goes to deep pride that the fathers fought and some died to make and keep us a Nation. It goes to a deep and immense understanding that they were doing it for us. It is of equal pride and love that our mothers struggled to give us birth. Without them we could not exist, and so we love each one, as far back as we can reach. That we might be born who we are. That we might remember them. So. we do. With love and caring and scribing each fact of their existence, because we are they and they are the sum of who we are. So, as a scribe called, I tell the story of my family. It is up to that one called in the next generation to answer the call and take my place in the long line of family storytellers. PIERRE MICHEAU, HIS LIFE IN NEW FRANCE.
In 1656, when our ancestor Pierre Micheau went on board of the ship "La Fortune" in the port of La Rochelle, he did not suspect that in this same port lived at this time a 5 year old child, Marie Ancelin, who was going to become his wife 11 years later in Nouvelle-France (New France), where he later made a home for himself and his family...Who was Marie Ancelin? http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/4098/marieane.html
Pierre and Marie moved five times, Ste-Anne-du-Petit-Cap (Beaupre) 1659-1665,
Saint-Jean, Ile d'Orleans 1665-1671, L'Ile aux Grues (1671-1682), Riviere des Trois-Saumons 1682-1692, and made their final move to Kamouraska where It became their final homestead and the cradle of a multitude of decendants.
The Micheau family was not afraid to take on new challenges, but Kamouraska would mark Pierre's final stand. By this time, Pierre was striken with mouth cancer, probably caused by a lifetime of pipe smoking. Pierre died sometime between May 28 and Sept. 15, 1702. On July 2, 1989, a historical commemoration to perpetuate the memory of our ancestors Pierre and Marie was made. Indeed, at the time of this great Michaud gathering, the Association of the Michaud Families unveiled a commemorative plaque to their memory. It is anchored on a wall of the chapel, in Kamouraska.

Marie Train. He arrived in Quebec City on a small, three mast ship called "La Fortune" in the summer of 1656. In 1667 he married Marie Ancelin, a sixteen year old girl, (he himself was thirty years old). They marry in a religious ceremony that is celebrated in the church of Chateau-Richer, in Quebec. They had ten children: Pierre, Jean Baptiste, Marie-Anne, Joseph, another Pierre called "the younger", Louis, Elisabeth, FRANCOIS, Genevieve and Magdeleine. Who was PIERRE MICHAUD "le cadet"?
Pierrre Micheau who came from France in 1656 and married Marie Ancelin in 1667, christened their first son Pierre, which was not unusual. Pierre (the elder) was enjoying good health and was growing normally when the fifth child in the famly was born on Feb. 2, 1681. This new child was also christened PIERRE "le cadet" or "the younger" seven days after his birth, at the time of the visit of missionary Thomas Morel.
Why did Pierre use the same first name for the second time? Unfortunately, our ancestor did not leave any information to explain that. PIERRE "dit le cadet" (so-called the younger), which is the first name he will always be known by, will be the last of Pierre Micheau's children to be born in l'Ile-Grues.
