MODEL CITIZEN AND SHIPBUILDER FOR WW2 PLANES AND SHIPS

This Man is my son in law, and I have watched him build WW2 Model Aircraft and Ships for the past 25 years. He makes sure that every detail of a ship or plane is added to the model. His Hobby includes British, German, French, Japanese and Spanish models also. I have added photos of models of ships that he has built below.

THE USS ESSEX CVA 9

This model is 55 inches in length with an 8 inch width. Scale is 1/192. The models shown below of the Battleship, Heavy Cruiser and the Fletcher Class Destroyer are the same scale. These models were transported to a Ship's Reunion held in Las Vegas, Sept 2007, and were on display for the weekend.

ANOTHER PHOTO OF USS ESSEX WITH THE GLASS COVER REMOVED

USS IOWA (BATTLESHIP)

This model, is the same length and scale as the Essex Carrier. The carriers were built on a Battleship Hull at that time.

THE USS NASHVILLE AND FLETCHER CLASS DESTROYER

These two models are also 1/192 scale. The Nashville is 37.5 inches long and 3.5 inches wide. The Fletcher is 24 inches long and 2 inches wide.

MY FAVORITE SHIP THE USS ROBERT L WILSON DD847

This model is right at 4 foot long and was built by Don Promnitz for an old shipmate of mine. Don insisted I put my dress blues on for the photo shot with the ship. First time I have tried them on in over 30 years. This model shown here is 1/96 scale

In this photo, I am showing Don where my Supply Office was at the time I was aboard the DD847 in 1962 to 1965. In 1963 she went into Philadelphia Naval Shipyard for a Fram Conversion which changed most of her superstructure completely from the main deck up. That spot I am pointing out was the "spud locker" before the Fram.
