Hegewisch Shuttle

New Hegewisch Station with eastbound South Shore Line train.

With the Approval and Consent of the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District / South Shore Line (who own the tracks), a CTA Gray Line "Hegewisch Shuttle" could be established between the Kensington/115th St. Station and the Hegewisch Station.

Additional floor level side platform stations would be constructed (with gauntlets, if South Shore Freight should deem them necessary) at:

+ E. 130th St. & The Borman Expressway | Serving nearby residential areas and schools.

+ E. 130th St. & S. Torrence Ave.| Serving the Ford manufacturing campus.

Floor level platforms would be constructed near Hegewisch for CTA trains (separate from South Shore boarding), either at a stub terminal there, or further on in the area of Burnham Yard.

South Shore trains would not stop between Hegewisch and Kensington, and would only board inbound llinois passengers at Hegewisch willing to pay unsubsidized South Shore fares to downtown Chicago (Metra subsidies for inbound NICTD Illinois passengers would end with the start of CTA Gray Line service).
