A true account of first love, sexual awakenings, and the psychological / emotional impacts during adolescent self-identity.
This is a factual story from an earlier time of my life in which, as a typical middle-class, American male child, I inevitably came face to face with the awkward, and often painful discovery of my own pubescent sexual self. It is a personal course of events that have seldom been shared with others, until now, but that I have soulfully revisited quite frequently within the haunted privacy of my own memories. The various events that happened during my fifth grade experiences with Danny were, as Oprah would refer to as, defining moments in my life.
Though the characters and places mentioned in the story are completely factual, as well as all accounts of specific encounters or conversations, some names have been changed to ensure the protection and respect for the privacy of others from my past. However, for all general purposes, everything took place exactly as stated in the story.
This story is being told for the main purpose of helping others to relate to, or possibly to better understand, a very natural human process that takes place in all of us during adolescence. Even though for most people that process will manifest itself between a boy and a girl, for a certain percentage of people, and much larger than what society cares to acknowledge, those first encounters with puppy-love will happen between two boys, or two girls, respectively.
