~ Religious Persecution ~
The job before me is huge, but it is one that very desperately needs to be done. There are many people out there who are hurting others, or who are being hurt by others, all because of religious beliefs. I believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and my personal Saviour. I also believe that I was born as who and what I am. I am a homosexual male human. I have my own values and morals towards life, and I am very much drawn to the truths of reality. I have no desire to fool or lie to myself about where I stand regarding anything. I am objective and open minded towards everything I encounter. I have learned many things from watching and listening to others around me in the world, both past and present. One thing I can say without doubt, is that people in general have as many different ideas about God as there are people in the world... and they can't all be right. When it comes to Christianity as a religion, I have seen more people "pushed away" from Jesus Christ and God by the practicing Christians, than by all the other religions and non-religious people in the world combined. I have seen the Christian religion being used like a razor sharp knife, or a cold dark prison. I have seen my brothers and sisters of all ages, races, social conditions, and for all reasons, being hurt, condemned, persecuted and even killed... all in the name of, and for the sake of a loving God. I have seen Christians of all denomination, and in all walks of life who act and react in the very same way as those who once crucified our Lord and Saviour... and they do it because they believe God wants them to, because they believe that's what the Bible says to do, or because someone else told them so. |
~ Because The Bible Says ~
This is the main reason that religious people, especially Christians, justify the persecution and condemnation of homosexuals in society. It is stated simply that the Bible says homosexuality is wrong, and therefore anyone who has homosexual feelings is an abomination to God. But in reality, there are only six places in the entire Bible, old and new testament, that are related to gay relationships, having homosexual contacts, or being an effeminate male. Out of 66 books, 1,189 chapters, and 31,173 verses, only 6 places are used to reject homosexuals from our world. And with closer study, it can be discovered that even those 6 places have been taken out of context to what they were intended to represent. |

~ But Isn't Homosexuality Un-natural? ~
My answer to that is, no. First of all, most people, including many gays, think that homosexuality is simply about sex, but I don't believe that for one second. Being attracted to someone is an individual thing, whether you're heterosexual or homosexual. Your attraction CAN be only about sex, but if you have ever personally fallen in love with someone, would you say that your feelings for that person were only sexual? I would think not... and the same is true for gays who fall in love with someone of the same gender. Sexual lust is not something reserved just for homosexual individuals, and though there are many homosexual persons who desire long term, monogamous, love based relationships in their life, the general concept of gay society is strictly that of sexual perversion and promiscuity. Most people's only impression of gays is from what they see in the movies, or read in magazines, both of which sell sensationalism. Not every gay male wants to have sex with any and every male human that comes along. Not every gay person thinks of sex as the most important part of their relationships. Not every gay individual is happy to find some stranger in the alleys or bathrooms for a quick, one time sexual encounter. Fear and ignorance is what feeds most of the prejudice against gays in todays world. |

~In Conclusion ~
The question about being gay or not is not one of choice. The question of how one chooses to act towards other people, whether it be sexually, or religiously, IS a choice. The choice is ours as to whether we will have relationships based on sex or love, regardless if we happen to be heterosexual, or homosexual. The choice is ours as to whether we will treat others with love or hate, regardless if we are Christian or not. We have the choice of whether to judge and reject others who happen to look, think or feel different than us, or we can take each person on an individual bases, and offer an open heart and mind as to who is good and who is not. The answers will never be found while arguing about the practicing of sex, it will only be found while practicing love. |
