LOVE & THE GOLDEN RULE

"DO TO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO TO YOU"

Below is a list of Religions found throughout history around the world, and the specific teaching within each one which reflects their basic belief in the Golden Rule.

The Golden Rule by any Religion

  • Baha'i - "Blessed is he who preferreth his brother before himself"
  • Buddhism - "Hurt not others in that you yourself would find hurtful" (UDANA VARGA 5:18)
  • Chrisianity - "As you wish that men would do to you, do so to them" (LUKE 6:31)
  • Confucianism - "Do not unto others what you would not have them do unto you" (ANALECTS 15:23
  • Hinduism - "Do naught unto others which would cause you pain if done to you" (MAHABHARATA 5:1517)
  • Islam - "No one of you is a believer until he desires for his brother that which he desires for himself" (SUNNAH)
  • Judaism - "That which is hateful unto you, do not impose on others" (TAIMUD, SHABBAT 31A)
  • Sikhism - "As thou deemest thyself, so deem others"
  • Taoism - "Regard your neighbor's gain as your own gain, and your neighbor's loss as your own loss? (T'AI SHANG KAN YING P'IEN)
  • Wicca - "An ye harm none, do what ye will" (WICCAN REDE)
  • Zoroastraianism - "That nature alone is good which refrains from doing unto another whatsoever is not good for itself" (DADISTAN-I-DINIK 94:5)

The Golden Rule is as universal as sunlight.
Love is the natural energy which gives purpose and meaning to the Golden Rule.

Love is as natural as the oceans and the wind... and as human as laugher or tears... it knows no prejudice.

The strengths and weaknesses of Love can be measured within the individual spirit of each human.

Golden Rule = Love Rules
