domeinside.jpg

The inside of the dome was prepared for growing beds by digging a spiral pathway into the center of the dome. Sand bags were placed along the pathway to build up the growing beds which were filled with premium compost. The center of the dome is three feet lower than the doorway...as you walk the pathway you gradually sink into the center. This fall I plan to cover the bags with mesh and cover the bags with tuffa, a cement and peatmoss mixture.

tankfountain.jpg

This fountain sits atop the water tank. The 800 gallon tank helps regulate the temperature inside the dome.

A water hyacinth flowering in the tank.
The northwall of the greenhouse (behind the watertank) is covered with reflective insulation.
In winter the low southerly sun shines on the north wall and the solar rays help warm the tank. It also provides insulation to help regulate the dome temperature winter and summer.
