Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve

UPDATEI can't help thinking of a line of lyrics from a song in "Fiddler on the Roof." "I don't remember growing older; when did they?" Well, they did, and the baby Sarah was the first of these three children to marry. Now I am a great-grandmother because on the first day of January 2008, Sarah and her husband Michael had a baby girl. They named her Violet Alexandra, after my mother and the composer Alexander Scriabin. For a photo of the newborn baby Violet bonding with her Aunt Joanna, see the page "Choice: Two Four Time" in the website "Romantic Love Poems by Harmonic Eve." There's also another photo of the baby in "ExtraExtra From Harmonic Eve." I will try to use restraint in presenting more photos as she grows. Since she was named after my own very musical mother (Violet) and she has a musical grandmother (Susan) as well as a musical mother (Sarah) and a professional musician for a father (Michael), you can imagine my thrill and hopes for the future when I heard by phone about her response on her first day of life to music she was hearing. I wish she were not living in a different state, because I would love to hold this new family addition. But enough about 2008; back to the ANCIENT PICS. |
Bobby's BicycleActually, since his father and his uncle were both called Bob, this fellow has been known as Robert. There are several Michaels, several Roberts and several Johns in my extended family. John equals Jack, Robert equals Bob or Bobby, and Michael equals Mike. This photo is of Sandy's son, or perhaps we should say Susan's son, Robert. I don't remember exactly when he switched from "Bobby" to "Robert" or when she switched from "Sandy" to "Susan," but I worked so hard trying to learn to say "Susan" that I know I must switch now in my narrative. After all, I asked my family to call me Eve instead of Phyllis. Most of them had a hard time making the switch, so I let them continue to call me Phyllis Eve. To be realistic, I expected just the new people I met to call me Eve, and the others just to tack on "Eve" after the "Phyllis." My Mr. Adam was the first person to call me Eve, and by that, even before we were married, he motivated me to make the change. The Eve for whom I was named did not see me much after I married Mr. Adam because her husband, my beloved Uncle Claude, died before Claude could meet my Mr. Adam. Eve did give me one of Claude's violins. No one in the family knows where Eve is now, or if she is even still alive. Violet's and Claude's younger sister Lydia was upset that Eve did not answer her last letter, and that was quite some time ago. Even Lydia is deceased now. So how did I wander this far away from the subject? Well, as long as I'm wandering.... what do you know, they are singing on my radio as write this... "I wonder as I wander." I am remembering that when I was studying to be a teacher, I made a children's book called "Bobby's Bicycle." Now THAT takes us back to the subject of the photo.
