Choice, Two Four Time
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve

My thoughts fill with words
I'm afraid to speak,
So in my confusion,
My lips touch your cheek.
You smile at me
And I feel your youth.
You seem so mature,
But is it the truth?
And if I would give
Myself to you,
Thus yielding my body
As others do,
Would you again
Be here with me?
Each time I looked,
What would I then see?

I'm living a life
Now safe and secure,
Afraid to dare,
Though fully mature.
One moment of choosing
To take a chance
Could alter my life
Forever -- one glance
From YOUR smiling eyes
Could tip the balance --
The love of a lifetime,
Or only a dalliance.
Would you again
Be here with me?
Each time I looked,
What would I then see?

Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve

Note of December 16, 2007: This is the same poem as "Choice" but the spacing has changed to include only two beats (accented syllables) per line instead of the original four beats per line. Mentally change the spelling of "four" to "for" and ponder a deeper meaning than just musical rhythm or dance.
