You chose that rugged hill to climb~
You saw throughout Eternity~
And knew I'd fail you miserably~
"I know why"_ you let them place~
Those thorns atop your head~
You knew when I was born_I'd die~
And took my place instead~
"I know why"_ you suffered too~
And bore my sin and shame~
Before I was ever thought about~
Sweet Lord, you knew my name~
"I know why" _they pierced your side~
And watched your life's blood flow~
You "let them do it", precious Lord~
Because you loved me so~
"I know why"_ Sweet "Mary" cried~
I feel like crying too~
To think of all you did for me~
And how much I've failed you~
"I know why"_ you shed your blood~
And died on Calvary's tree~
But I can't "comprehend such love"~
For a sinner_such as me~
You could have called the "Angels", Lord~
You did not have to die~
You chose that tree, at Calvary~
And sweet Lord_"I know why"~
And now you sit upon your throne~
In Heaven, in the sky~
That "Trumpet" will be Sounding Soon~
"Your Coming Back"_draws nigh~
I wait so anxiously, My Lord~
I breathe a wishful sigh~
While others hide in fear, Sweet Lord~
"I Won't"_And_"I know why"!!
