After boot camp and two years in Norfolk, Va., I was moved from FASON 3 Norfolk, Va. to VC5 in Sanford, Fla. VC5 was due back in Sanford about 2 months after I arrived. They were not scheduled to go back to Morocco until my 4 years were up. I traded places with a person in VC9 so I could go with them to Morocco in 1954. I was in Morocco when the war ended and was discharged 20 Jul 54.

Hello,
I have a web site http://www.fooshee.com There are several pictures of VC-7 and the last two reunions (the only ones I have attended) and a lot of family pictures on it. To get to the pictures after you bring up fooshee.com click on "Photo Gallery" and then on the group of pictures you want to view. Left click on the thumbnail to enlarge a picture. You may link to it if you wish.
I was in the squadron from early 1952 until Sept 1954. Tuesday

(EDIT): Following is from Spike's brother, whose email address is above:

I have changed [email] service, new e-mail is oklacnw@cox.net. My brother, James J. (Spike) Erdmann is 80 years old this past Nov. He is in fair health, has had some bouts with cancer, but so far OK now. I ran off a copy of the history for him and he has really enjoyed it. I want to thank you and all who have put this all together, it really helps the older fellows with their memories.

02/09/2005 - Lowell Ulrich (VC-9 VAH-9 Third Crewman AD2) lulrich@wk.net
Home town: Hardin, KY.
I was assigned to VC9 NAAS Sanford,FL in 1953. Went to Port Lyautey in 1954 upon returning to Sanford took special weapons training and became third crewman. My pilot was Lt. Jacobs--can't rember the B/N name. Flew as third crewman for a year or more and a few months before being deployed to Port Lyautey I quit flying as third crewman. If I had continued I would have been on the plane that crashed at the Azores that killed the third crewman (Greek).
Would be thrilled to hear from any of my shipmates
