SUPERMAN SOARS INTO STORES WITH WARNER HOME VIDEO'S DVD RELEASE OF RUBY-SPEARS SUPERMAN ON NOVEMBER 3, 2009!
At Last All 13 Ruby-Spears Episodes Are Released On DVD Over 20 Years Later
As a 50th anniversary gift to fans, DC Comics' Man of Steel was given a brand-new Saturday morning cartoon in 1988. Now, fans of all ages can finally join the celebration when Warner Home Video (WHV) and DC Comics release Ruby-Spears Superman, a 2-disc collection of cartoons from the Warner Bros. vault, on November 3, 2009 for US$26.99 SRP. Order due date is September 29, 2009.
Debuting in 1988, the Ruby-Spears Superman series brought back some familiar foes and new unfriendly faces for battles against our favorite hero. In addition to the thrills of Superman's weekly adventures, each episode also includes a mini-segment - a continuing series called Superman Family Album. These featurettes tell the real story of what it was like to grow up as the most powerful boy in Smallville. Watch young Clark Kent deal with not only the normal trials and tribulations of youth and adolescence, but learn to balance them with his newfound super powers.
Ruby-Spears Productions was founded in 1977 by veteran writers Joe Ruby and Ken Spears. Ruby and Spears started as sound editors at Hanna-Barbera, branched out into writing, and eventually went on to create "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!" In total, Ruby-Spears Productions produced 36 different TV series including the hit, "Alvin and the Chipmunks."
"These celebratory episodes not only take fans through the expected, yet exhilarating, adventures of Superman, but they share the untold story of his youth," said Amit Desai, WHV Vice President of Family, Animation & Sports Marketing. "Warner Home Video is absolutely thrilled to release Ruby-Spears Superman just in time for the holiday season."
Ruby-Spears Superman will include the special feature:
Corruption of the Corrupt: The Rise of LexCorp:
A fascinating glimpse into the Decade of Greed, when Americans were growing more and more distrustful of corporate leadership. From the headlines of the day to the pages of Superman arose a new vision of an old villain, Lex Luthor and his conglomerate, LexCorp.

SUPERMAN/BATMAN: PUBLIC ENEMIES FROM WARNER HOME VIDEO ON SEPT. 29, 2009
DC Universe Animated Original PG-13 Movie Based on Acclaimed Jeph Loeb/Ed McGuinness Comics; Tim Daly, Kevin Conroy & Clancy Brown Reprise Original Voices of Superman, Batman & Lex Luthor
The World's Greatest Super Heroes become America's most wanted criminals - and are hunted by friends and foes alike - in Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, the sixth entry in the popular DVD series of DC Universe Animated Original PG-13 Movies. A co-production of Warner Premiere, DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation, the full-length animated film will be distributed by Warner Home Video on September 29, 2009. Superman/Batman: Public Enemies will be available as a Special Edition 2-disc version on DVD and Blu-Ray Hi-Def for US$24.98 (SRP) and US$29.99 (SRP), respectively, as well as single disc DVD for US$19.98 (SRP) and On Demand. Order due date for all versions is August 25, 2009.
Superman/Batman: Public Enemies is based on the popular Jeph Loeb/Ed McGuinness comic series/graphic novel. Animation legend Bruce Timm (Superman Doomsday, Green Lantern) is executive producer. Michael Goguen (Justice League: The New Frontier) is supervising producer. Sam Liu (The Batman) is directing a script written by Stan Berkowitz (Justice League: The New Frontier).
In the film, United States President Lex Luthor uses the oncoming trajectory of a Kryptonite asteroid to frame Superman and declare a $1 billion bounty on the heads of the Man of Steel and his "partner in crime," Batman. Heroes and villains alike launch a relentless pursuit of Superman and Batman, who must unite - and recruit help - to stave off the action-packed onslaught, stop the asteroid, and uncover Luthor's devious plot to take command of far more than North America.
The movie reunites the lead voices of Superman, Batman and Lex Luthor from the landmark Superman: The Animated Series and Batman: The Animated Series. Tim Daly (Private Practice), Kevin Conroy (Batman: The Animated Series, Justice League) and Clancy Brown (The Shawshank Redemption) reprise their roles as Superman, Batman and Lex Luthor, respectively.
Superman/Batman: Public Enemies - 2 Disc Special Edition version will have more than three hours of incredible bonus features, including:
Featurettes:
The Blackest Night: Inside the DC Comics Event: Behind-the-scenes of BLACKEST NIGHT, the epic DC Super Hero event in which the dead shall rise.
A Test of Minds: Superman and Batman featurette with Jeph Loeb, giving viewers a fresh and revitalized look at the team-up of Superman and Batman working together despite their often competitive and challenging relationship.
"Dinner with DC: With Special Guest Kevin Conroy": Reprising his role from Batman: The Animated Series, Kevin Conroy joins the crew for dinner to discuss their creative approach and what the Superman/Batman team-up means. The evening will be hosted by Voice Director Andrea Romano, Producer Bruce Timm and DC's Gregory Noveck.
Extended Sneak Peak at Next DCU Film.

Superman/Batman: Public Enemies Blu-Ray versions will have more than three-and-a-half hours of bonus materials, including all the great extras from the 2-disc Special Edition as well as two additional episodes of Justice League Unlimited and two episodes from Justice League, both personally selected by fan-favorite Bruce Timm.
"Warner Premiere is excited to continue this successful partnership with DC Comics, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Home Video to present feature-length PG-13 animated original films with the filmmaking and celebrity voice starpower of Superman/Batman: Public Enemies," said Matt Bierman, Senior Vice President Production, Warner Premiere.
"Based on the past success of Superman/Doomsday and Batman: Gotham Knight, we know the pairing of the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight - pitted against both their DC Super Hero colleagues and the entire rogue's gallery of DC villains - will offer fans the level of entertainment normally reserved for the big, summer blockbuster films," said Amit Desai, WHV Vice President of Family, Animation & Partner Brands.
"This is the ultimate film for DC animation lovers featuring not only the cornerstone characters of comic book and Saturday morning heroes, but also returns the seminal voices of those characters - Tim Daly, Kevin Conroy and Clancy Brown - in a story that explores the Superman/Batman dynamic and allows Lex Luthor to shine in ultimate villainy," said Gregory Noveck, Senior VP Creative Affairs, DC Comics.
Marketing Support:
Superman/Batman: Public Enemies will be extensively marketed with a robust national TV, Print, Radio and Online media campaign generating over 500 million impressions! The campaign will also include trailering on WHV titles to garner an additional 10 million impressions. BURBANK, CA (June 8, 2009) - Another season of Smallville means more exciting new characters, adventure and conflict, as the longest running "Superman" TV series continues to deliver great entertainment with the release of Smallville: The Complete Eighth Season on DVD and Blu-ray on August 25th. Fans will thrill to this collectible multi-disc set with all 22 episodes of the eighth season, plus amazing bonus features, including unaired scenes, cast & crew commentaries, and several never-before-seen featurettes including "Smallville's Doomsday: The Making of a Monster."
In Season Eight - starring Tom Welling, Allison Mack, Erica Durance, Aaron Ashmore, Cassidy Freeman, Sam Witwer and Justin Hartley - there's a new reporter at the Daily Planet: Clark Kent, who shares a workspace with Lois Lane. There's a new hero in Metropolis, too. No one knows who he is. But Jimmy Olsen was on the scene of one of the do-gooder's exploits, and he snapped a blurred photo of the hero in superspeed action - a hero everyone now calls the Red-Blue Blur.
Red-jacketed, blue-shirted Clark Kent draws closer to his Superman destiny, and another Kryptonian destiny also takes shape as Davis Bloome begins to realize he is Doomsday. His mission on Earth: kill Clark Kent. So many new events (Will Jimmy and Chloe's marriage last?), so many new faces (Tess Mercer, Saturn Girl and Cosmic Boy among them!), so many state-of-the-art effects - so don't miss a single thrill-packed moment!
"Smallville is the longest running live-action 'Superman' TV series, a testament to its popularity and loyal fan base," said Rosemary Markson, WHV Vice President, TV and Special Interest Marketing. "This is one of the most memorable shows on TV and a must-have on DVD. As with prior seasons, Smallville: The Complete Eighth Season is timed for release just in time for the Season Nine premiere of the series on The CW."
Smallville was developed for television by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar, and is based on DC Comics characters.
The executive producers for Season Eight are Kelly Souders & Brian Peterson, Todd Slavkin & Darren Swimmer, James Marshall, Mike Tollin, Brian Robbins and Joe Davola. Superman was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The series is from Tollin/Robbins Productions and Warner Bros. Television. Beginning this fall, Smallville will air Fridays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW Television Network.
