**The following interesting history was provided from the family records through corespondance with Mr. Robert BAKER of Satsuma, Florida.
From an email......
Daughter Elizabeth died in infancy. Sarah had two sons with Conrad, George and Lewis. Family tradition says that Sarah and Elizabeth both died of "Child Bed Fever." Conrad later married Elizabeth SOHN, from New Albany, IN. The Sohn family settled in the New Albany area. Conrad and Elizabeth were really busy with an additional eleven children. The Bakers intermarried with the Gettlefingers, Sappenfields, Fessells, Hottles and Mosiers, to name a few.
Conrad ran a store in Palmyra, where he sold leather goods. He was an apprentice in Germany and thought all was lost, when his ship burned and sank in New York harbor. Fortunately, the trunk with all his tools and patterns was found floating in the water and returned to him. When Morgan's Raiders came through the Palmyra area, Conrad was forced to provide boots and saddles for them. This information was taken from family letters. I only hope that some day I can find out the name of the ship and get a passenger list with his name on it. I do know that his father's name was Jacob and the family name was changed, from BECKER to BAKER, after their arrival in America.
