This site was created for sharing my research on the history of the Tippy family.

I have discovered much about my family's origns, traditions and values. This site is dedicated to our children who are the heirs of the stories and facts found herein. This site is a work in progress and will be updated as new and corrected information becomes available.

Abraham Tippa was the son of Peter and Elizabeth CONN Tippa. Family history states that at the age of 16 , Abraham left his home in Germany. His mother assisted him in getting aboard a sailing vessel to New York City via England, where an uncle lived. Abraham apparently changed his name after arriving in America to Tippey, and later, to Tippy. (Tennessee records state that Abraham was born in Tennessee in 1770)

Abraham served in the Revolutionary army from 14 April 1793 to 14 June 1793 under Cpt. John Rains Co of Mt. Infantry, for protection of Metro district.

Abraham lived in both Nashville and Springfield, Tennessee. He married
Nancy Spiller. The following children were born in Tennessee, begining with John, b. about 1792, Lenna Nicholas , b. abt 1797, Sarah b. abt 1800, Sally Elizabeth Tippy, b. abt 1801, James, b. 1802, Abner, b. abt 1805,, William, b. about 1805?, Elijah, b. abt 1809, and Braxton.
