The Start of My Career

To all who are pondering the question: "How long has she been a visual artist?"

To answer your question, I've been perfecting my craft as a visual artist (multiple disciplines) since the age of four. Yes, four! (image link below)

That's when my Mother, a multi-gifted artist:

Visual Artist - Charcoal, Watercolor, Oil on Canvas

Musician - Banjo, and Guitar (acoustic and electric)

Vocalist, and

Fashion Designer

started helping me develop my one 'gift' (so she thought at the time), sketching animals and nature.

She introducted me to 'Watercoloring' at the age of five.

It was also during this period of time, that I expressed a keen interest in the moving image.

Sitting in our neighborhood theatre (while the film was
playing), I would ask her:
"How, What, When and Why?"

At the age of 8 (image link below), I went on a class trip to Hyde Park, N.Y.

My classmates and I toured 'Springwood' , President Franklin D. Roosevelt's family estate, and the 'Vanderbilt Mansion'.

It was during our tour of the Vanderbilt Mansion (image link below) that I ‘fell in love’ with architecture.

After that experience, I became profoundly interested in drawing blue prints, designing model houses, and taking photographs.

I received my first camera at the age of ten, a Kodak Brownie "Holiday Flash" (image below). It was a Christmas gift from my mother, and later in life, my best friend (smile).

Mother helped me discover my ‘artistic gifts’ (talents, skills) by exposing me to different artistic disciplines.

I'm 'blessed' to have had a parent in my life who, during my early childhood development, truly had the interest, took the time, and made sacrifices (especially financial) towards the development of my 'artistic gifts'.

As you read my bio, and view the remainder of the web site, you will clearly see that elements of my professional career are the reflection of my early childhood 'artistic' interests.

Let me end by saying:

Through her love, patience, understanding, knowledge and guidance (suggestions, hands on application, and comments), I am the person that I am today.

"THANK YOU MOMMY!"
