BLUEBIRDS IN MY FRONT YARD
in central North Carolina

Here are mama & papa with material for a nest. I put up a bluebird nestbox in 2001 & have thoroughly enjoyed watching "My" Bluebird Family.

5 beautiful bluebird eggs. Usually 1 egg is laid each day. After the last egg has been laid, babies will hatch in 13 to 15 days.

1 day old. These babies hatched after 14 days. I can only see 3 heads but 5 flew out 16 days later.

This is papa with food for the babies. BOTH parents feed the young. At first the parents enter the nestbox to feed the babies. Within a few days though, the parents just stick their head in with food & the young babies take it.

This is mama with a tasty morsel. Mama & Papa feed the young. I watched & it keeps them busy feeding 'em.
