A Tribute to a Very Dear Friend:

Jonathan Harris

November 6, 1914 - November 3, 2002

"There are no words to describe how I and so many people were affected by the very sad news of Jonathan's passing on Sunday November 3, 2002. I had the honor and pleasure of getting to know Jonathan as a friend over the last few years. I will cherish the memories of the good times we both experienced. I loved the stories he would tell. Even the third or fourth time around. Enjoyed watching the interaction of him with the LIS fans at the various conventions. He REALLY did enjoy doing those personal appearances.

We all have known people we admire, respect. People that have made a IMPACT on our lives. That have made us look at the world with a different perspective. Jonathan was one of those people. Jonathan was the one who did it for me."

I will truly miss you Jonathan.

Jonathan's memorial service was at 10:00 a.m. on November 6, 2002 at the Westwood Memorial Cemetary in downtown Los Angeles, CA. Please click on the link below to read Bill Mumy's very moving eulogy for Jonathan.

Bob May and Robot fans! Click here see vidcaps of Randy and Bob and Ray Dutczak hanging out at the October 2000 Chiller Theatre Expo!

*In memory of our 'favorite robot' actor Bob May*.

Bob May passed away on Sunday January 18, 2009. He was only 69 years young. My condolenses to his wife Judy and his family and to those that cared about him.. Bob was ALWAYS very gracious and kind to me when I saw & chatted with him at the various personal appearances he attended. One of the most memorable moments was having breakfast with him & Jonathan at a Chiller Theatre event in 2000. Simply priceless.. He LOVED doing those events and meeting the LIS fans. I as many people were very saddened on hearing the news. I shot some video of him @ the Chiller Expo in 2000. Simply clip on the link *above* to go to my Bob May Tribute Site.

Bob will be TRULY missed.

DECEMBER 2008 UPDATE

Good day fellow LIS fans.

It has been a while since this site has been updated (The Time Merchant is not responding to my emails or text messages and his voice mail is full.). And I thought today as we are winding up 2008 would be the best time. FIRST and FOREMOST Bob & Judy May. Recently Bob & Judy lost there home in California due to the terrible fires that will come out of no where. Both Bob & Judy are ok and got out just in time. I am sending well wishes and positive vibes (which I will hope you do so) to both these down to earth and cordial individuals whom I had the opportunity to have dinner and breakfast with at both the Frightvison & Chiller Theatre conventions.

It was also a GREAT pleasure meeting and chatting with Bob our FAVORITE robot and the other 'surviving' cast members again *minus* June at Ray Court's Hollywood Collector's Show in Burbank, CA on Saturday October 4 , 2008. I picked up Bill's new CD 'Circular' ..Autographed copy of course. As discussed before be sure to visit Bill's website @ http://www.billmumy.com and checkout his guest book. Bill personally overesees the guest book part of his site. And Dave Goudsward *expertly* maintains the rest. Tell him Randy sent you. I also visited and talked with Angela about her artwork as I am a admirer & collector of it. Her beautiful artwork can be viewed at her website http://www.angela-cartwright.com.. Marta was very talkative as we discussed the fact she is taking care of Gertrude Harris's dog since Gertrude has passed on. Visit Marta's our FAVORITE Space Beauty's website at http://www.martakristen.com And of course last but not least.. Mark Goddard. As ALWAYS looking great... Mark has a NEW book out. I am looking foward to reading it. And will let you know what I think of the book in my January 2009 Update. Mark has a NEW website as well at http://www.mark-goddard.com . Be sure to check it out for all the latest on our FAVORITE Major West! Got all the photo ops.. as all the cast seemed to be in good spirits. Quite a nice day minus the rain.

BTW..I have just aquired *Season 2* of Rod Serling's "classic" triology tv series 'Night Gallery' on DVD. One of the episodes features our dear Jonathan Harris.(Featured in Since Aunt Ada Came to Stay) Great to see Jonathan in a serious role. Quite a spooky one.. I might add.. Some of the other actors featured in the Second Season DVD are Edward G Robinson, Lawrence Harvey and Vincent Price just to name a few. If your into the macabre and GREAT acting & story lines check this DVD out. The Night Gallery website run by Scott Skelton at http://www.nightgallery.net is VERY informative..

*My personal thoughts for NOW and as we all move foward to 2009 and BEYOND*

"Think POSITIVE thoughts. Negative energy is worthless and waste time! Stay *focused *with whatever you are doing. *Persistance* is one of the TOP words in my vocabulary. Keep pushing for what you want.. You''ll get it. *Try* to eat healthy and exercise. We have only one body and one mind. Life is too short to 'worry' about the small things in life. 2009 should be a very interesting year.'"

Have a Prosperous, Healthy , and Productive 2009 Everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Randy McDougall

NOVEMBER 2006 UPDATE

First of all LIS fans. THANKS for visiting my site. YOUR continued support is ALWAYS appreciated.

Where to start? I decided to attend Ray Court's Hollywood Collectors Show in Burbank, California last month. It was one of those 'rare' situations where 'most' of all the surviving cast members were present. I wanted signatures for my 1st season LIS DVD set and decided that this was the most cost effective and time saving way of accomplishing this matter. Arrived on a overcast and rainy Saturday morning and made my way from the lobby of the Hilton to the convention center next door, Brief wait outside on line and then right into the ballroom. I always like to walk around a little bit to get an idea where everyone is seated.. Started with June .. our FAVORITE 'Space Mom'. She already had a line of people wanting to see her. Waited my turn.. June always tells a story along with each picture or item she is offering at her table. As ALWAYS very cordial. Told her how appreciative I was of her making to HCS. Her grandchild.. did not get her name.. (who was helping June out) was gracious enough to get a GREAT pic of June & I. Chatted briefly with June about the classic movie she did called 'Meet Me in St. Louis' which I had seen a few nites prior on Turner classics. Of all the LIS 'classic' cast she is one of my favorites. Specifically enjoyed her in the first and third seasons. Sitting next to June... the ALWAYS friendly and down to earth Bob May. Discussed about LIS going to a fourth season. I personally liked the way the third season was presented especially with scripts like the Anti-Matter Man & Deadliest of the Species. I believe a fourth season was in order as did most of the 'classic' LIS cast Next Marta Kristen ... Our FAVORITE 'Space Beauty' What a beautiful and very genuine lady. Always says to me how nice it is to see me. And asked how I was. Very much appreciated. Moving right along... the forever sweet and beautiful Angela Carwright .. I always look at Angela's jewelry when I see her. She wears the coolest neck pendants. I believed the jewelry she was wearing at the HCS event contained her artwork. Very unique jewelry. Since I first met Angela in 1998 along with her son Jesse who was helping her out at an event whose name I cannot recall at this moment> She has ALWAYS been very kind to me. Won't forget working with her at the Chiller convention in 2000. Now that was fun ... Hard work. But fun! Last but not least Bill Mumy. Very friendly.. I had already told Bill via email several months back. How I had enjoyed his appearance on George Noorey's ' Coast to Coast AM' radio show... Had a little chit chat..... Signed DVD.. and of course photo ops with all mentioned above. My THANKS to Bill, Angela, Marta. Bob and June. I of course missed seeing Mark Goddard. But later found out he could not make it to HCS due to something related to a personal matter. Things happen... Since I first met Bill, Angela, Bob, June, Marta and Mark all starting back in 1998. You ALL have been very kind AND GRACIOUS. It was also nice to visit briefly with Glennda Kountz the president of the Bill Mumy Fan Club. And thanks to Ray & Sharon Court's of the Hollywood Collectors Show.

You folks always will have my support in your endeavors!

As most of us know Jonathan passed away back in November 2002. And he is still very missed by many. But did you know Jonathan was working on a voice over project about one year prior to his passing? In fact he was. It was a short animated feature movie called 'The Bolt who Screwed Chistmas'. Interesting side note. Bill, Angela, and Marta back earlier this summer added their voices to three characters for this feature.( You can visit either Bill's or Marta's respective websites *designed and expertly maintained by Dave Goudsward btw* under the 'gallery' sections for pics of them plus Angela in the recording studio doing their voice overs) Apparently the movie is still in production and is due out in 2007. If I get any updates I'll post it here on my site.

That is all till 2007!

Want to wish ALL a HAPPY THANKSGIVING/HOLIDAYS and a HAPPY, HEALTHY AND OF COURSE PROSPEROUS 2007!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best Regards as Always,

Randy McDougall

JANUARY 2006 UPDATE!

Greetings fellow LIS fans and friends!!

Can you believe ANOTHER year has passed by? Let me start by saying THANK YOU for stopping by. Your CONTINUED support of this site and other affiliate sites is as ALWAYS greatly appreciated. Now on to the LIS stuff.. I only attended one personal appearance 'venue' in 05. It was an event in August in North Hollywood, CA. Was able to visit and chat with our FAVORITE 'space mom' June Lockhart. She was as cordial as usual. And looked GREAT. Also visited with our FAVORITE 'B9 Robot' actor Bob May. ALSO very cordial as ALWAYS. Purchased A NICE pic from Bob to add to my collection. Also met with and chatted for a while with actor Leonard Stone who portrayed a character named Farnum on two LIS episodes. What a very nice and pleasant person he was. Got photo opps will all the above mentioned people which will be on this site soon.

Later the same day I made the trek down the 405 parking lot to the Westwood Village area to pay my respects to my VERY dear friend Jonathan Harris. As many of you know Jonathan's final resting place is at the Westwood Memorial Cemetary between all the all those office towers. I left a little note and a flower for him as he will ALWAYS be very close to my heart. To say that this visit to Jonathan's final resting place was emotional is an understatement. But as we all know LIFE goes on.

For all all your Bill Mumy fans be sure to visit Bill's site at billmumy.com and be sure to check out his guest book area as Bill regularly drops in there. Did you know Bill's FAVORITE episode for the 3rd season of LIS was 'Anti-Matter Man'? Well now you know. ALSO be sure to visit Angela Cartwight's site at angela-cartwright.com. She has created a NEW blog area with UPDATES on Angela. I visited her BLOG last nite. VERY COOL!

May you ALL have a VERY HAPPY, PROSPEROUS and HEALTHY and PEACEFUL 2006!

Best Regards As Always,

Randy McDougall

Don't FORGET to eat HEALTHY and get some exercise!
It really DOES matter!

JANUARY 2005 UPDATE!

"THANK YOU fellow LIS fans for dropping by. Your emails of support via this site are GREATLY appreciated. And are ALWAYS welcome. One of the most frequently asked questions I get asked via email is: What are your feelings on a 'remake' of LIS? I feel because of the passing of both actors Jonathan Harris and Guy Williams there would be no way any actor(no matter how good) could create that 'magic' and 'uniqueness' both actors brought to each of there respective characters Dr Zachary Smith & Professor John Robinson. This is my honest opinion. You can disagree if you like. What I would REALLY like to see would be a A&E Biography done on LIS. Producer Kevin Burns & A&E did a FANTASTIC one involving 'The Munsters' tv series narrated by Bill Mumy. I enjoyed that one being a 'Munsters' fan. Kevin are you listening? : )

November 3, 2004 was the second anniversary of Jonathan's passing. I viewed a video that I had shot at MegaCon 2001 on saturday morning November 6, 2004. Had not watched the video since downloading the vidcaps to my site. Also sent out a long overdue 'thank you' email to a very nice individual who has been involved with LIS for a long time. Their timely response was very much appreciated. Man,Viewing that video brought back such happy memories of visiting and chatting with the "classic" LIS cast. For all that are interested. And I know you are. Jonathan had told me in our conversations that his VERY favorite LIS episode was 'West of Mars'. HOWEVER like alot of you Jonathan had alot of 'favorite' LIS episodes. My VERY favorite? The 'Anti-Matter Man' third season episode.

2005 as many of you are aware marks the 40th anniversary of the FIRST airing of OUR favorite show. YES! 40 years since the very first airing of Lost in Space the "classic" series on Wednesday nite September 15, 1965 on CBS television. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY LIS and to ALL the "classic" cast members and of course to the man himself that brought it all to fruition the late Irwin Allen.
I am also looking foward to the VERY anticipated release of Season 3 Volume 1 of LIS on DVD in 2005. Season 1 and Season 3 are my favorites. Season 2 did'nt impress me too much. Questing Beast indeed!

That is all from LISCONVERGENCE land. Wish me luck folks as I am launching a new website in 2005. And SURPRISE. It's not LIS/LIS cast related. Imagine that. Continue to check back for some exciting UPDATES at LISCONVERGENCE.COM in 2005! And HAPPY 2005!"

MARCH 2004 UPDATE!

Hello Lost in Space fans!

"First of all thanks for visiting the LISCONVERGENCE.COM site. If this is your first visit. I do hope that you enjoy it. And HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY! Well it FINALLY happened our FAVORITE show made it into the 21st century and is being seen by lots of LIS fans both new and diehard ones like me on DVD. Thanks to Kevin Burns on his efforts with this one.

In addition the WB network and Kevin Burns along with others are currently in production on a NEW LIS television series pilot episode called 'The Robinsons: Lost in Space'. The casting of the LIS characters ie: Maureen Robinson, Major West, Will Robinson,Judy Robinson, John Robinson is complete. These are NEW actors/actressses that are being cast in these roles. Not the "classic" ones. It should be very interesting to see how things come to fruition with this new LIS project. I wish Kevin and the rest of the folks involved with the production the best of luck.

As promised a Jonathan Harris moment. I was contacted back in early 2002 about participating in a committee to get Jonathan a 'Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame' Of course I JUMPED on the opportunity and immediately volunteered to assist anyway I could. Jonathan knew of my participation. And was behind this project 100%. The paper work was drawn up and submitted to the 'Hollywood Walk of Fame' decision making committee. Please keep in mind there is VERY LIMITED availability and certain qualifications one needs in order to get the star. PLUS I believe a cost of $15,000.00. A few months go by and we and Jonathan are notified by the 'Hollywood Walk of Fame' decision making committee it's a NO GO. Oh well. I was of course very disappointed as I was ready to get that star for Jonathan. I did ask Jonathan about his feelings involving the matter. His response to me I quote> " Randy I don't give a thought to a Star on the Blvd. My ego doesn't go that far- who needs thousands of people walking all over me." End quote. He also indicated he was VERY appreciative of the efforts in us trying however. Before I forget. Bill Mumy celebrated his 50th birthday last month. YES 50th.. Let's all wish Bill... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! Man time just goes by....Guess who else celebrated a birthday in February? Marta Kristen! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARTA!!!!! Thanks again for stopping by everybody. Do your best to stay out of the 'cornfield'!"

It features vidcap pics of him from various personal appearances across the country including ones from his last personal appearance at the 'Stars of the Zone' Convention in North Hollywood California in August 2002. I can't believe it will be almost a year since we lost Jonathan. Man do I miss him. Before I forget a special hello goes out to our LIS friends in Brazil at www.perdidosnoespaco.com.br. Continued success Luis with your website. And finally.. I will posting on the LISCONVERGENCE site on my next update some VERY funny 'experiences' with Jonathan while meeting and working with him at various conventions. So stay tuned. That is all for now. Doing my VERY BEST to 'stay out of the cornfield' : )"

"Well fellow LIS fans another Chiller Con has come and gone. I attended the Chiller Theatre Spring 2003 Expo on Saturday April 26, 2003. It was a rainy day in Jersey and the rain was a non issue as the entire venue had been moved into the Sheraton Hotel. The "Specal Guest Stars" of Chiller are seated at tables in various "conference rooms" on the second and third floors of the hotel.
First on my list was to hit the dealer rooms to check things out. I then proceeded over to the "LIS room". ALL the surviving cast members were there except for Bob May & June Lockhart. Entered room and started a brief conversation with Cindy Lillibridge. Cindy was assisting Angela Cartwright out. My THANKS go out to Cindy for taking the photos of me & Angela. Needed some "current" pics. The pics of me & Angela came out GREAT. It was nice to see a familar face (Cindy) in addition to the LIS folks. Angela was as sweet as usual. And we discussed her recent appearance on the travel channel involving the "Road Trip" series that she did with actress Heather Menzies Urich. Angela & Heather flew to Salzburg, Austria to do a "Road Trip" segment involving the "classic" movie 'The Sound of Music'. I told Angela how nice it was seeing her on t.v. again and confirmed with her how COLD it was while she was there in Salzburg.. BRRRRRR.. in November 2002. Moving along.. I had a nice chat with Bill Mumy. He was very gracious and signed a 'fan taken' photo of him along with Jonathan that I had brought from my collection that Jonathan had given me. He said it was one of his favorite photos. And then over to chat with Marta Kristen. Marta was very cordial as ALWAYS. And was kind enough to say I was "looking good". My first compliment of the day. And it was only 11:45 am. Said hi to Mark Goddard and proceeded to the Q & A room.

As a "veteran" Chiller attendee I wanted to set up my video equipment with no obstructions (back of heads). To do this one must arrive VERY early especially involving popular Q & A sessions such as LIS. Got my seat 1st row left. PERFECT! Now 2 1/2 hours till the LIS 'Tribute to Jonathan Harris' Q & A. What to do? Well.... I was VERY WELL entertained by the writers panel with Jack Ketchum,Doug Winter and David Schow. Actor Angus Scrimm was next. And then the 'Cool Goul' Zacherle and then the Horror's Leading Men session involving actors Tony Todd, Jonathan Breck and Reggie Bannister.

Well it's 3:00pm and the LIS cast make there way into the Q&A session. It was strange not seeing Jonathan making his way into that conference room. Even thou Jonathan was not there in the physical sense. His presence was there. I felt it. One of the subjects discussed was how Jonathan kept his "showbiz" life separate from his "personal/ family life". And how Bill had not met Jonathan's wife Gertrude until just a few years ago. And Marta not having met Gertrude till after Jonathan's passing. Jonathan loved to talk about his family and his various non-showbiz activities when me and him had our chats. To be totally honest... We actually talked very little about LIS. By the way I was VERY grateful for the corespondence I received from Gertrude after Jonathan's passing. A VERY NICE gesture on her part that I will never forget. My understanding is both Jonathan and Gertrude were very much alike personality wise. Can you imagine that. I guess after being married for over 60 years it's bound to happen. Getting back to the Q&A session and what was discussed. Angela disclosed how Jonathan would bring in little candies to ALL the LIS cast AND crew while they were fliming the "classic" LIS series. A very generous offering from Jonathan. This was one of my favorite LIS Q & A's yet at Chiller.

In closure I would like to provide a VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU to Angela, Bill and Marta, and Mark. And Cindy for her kindness. I hope to have some pics from this event posted on my site soon. PAGING Mr. Time Merchant."

Remember Lost in Space Is Forever!

Best Regards,
Randy McDougall

MARCH 2003 UPDATE

"Well fellow LIS fans. It's been several months since I have posted a 'update' to my site. As many of you are aware the LIS TV movie that was in very early 'post' production has been "shelved". Was of course looking foward to seeing the return to earth of the Robinson family, Dr. Smith, Major West and of course the robot. Well I guess that's showbiz. Without Jonathan reprising the role of "Dr. Zachary Smith" it would'nt be the same LIS in my honest opinion. Jonathan Harris created "Dr. Smith". And will ALWAYS be "Dr. Smith". In addition the A&E 'Biography' that featured Jonathan that aired in late November 2002 was quite memorable. A BIG THANK YOU to producer Kevin Burns and his EXPERTISE on that VERY SPECIAL 'Biography'. And for bringing it to fruition for everyone to enjoy. On to some more current stuff. I did catch Bill Mumy and his beautiful daughter Liliana on the t.v. the other nite. Both starred in a remake of the "classic" Twilight Zone episode called 'It's a Good Life' that originally aired in 1961. Actress Cloris Leachman also starred in this excellent followup to the Rod Serling "classic". BIG APPLAUSE to Bill for his continued follow up in the role of Anthony Fremont. And to Liliana and Cloris Leachman for a GREAT performance! It was GREAT to see Bill on the television AGAIN and to see Liliana SHINE in her role. Like many of you. I am also waiting very patienly for our FAVORITE show Lost in Space to be released on DVD. It's on my WISH list! Only time will tell. BTW Has anyone seen the 'Time Merchant'? Me and him have got to have a little chat.

THANKS to ALL who send me emails via my websites. Your kind words about the 'classic cast' members and comments of encouragement and SUPPORT about my sites are ALWAYS appreciated. And as usual I'm trying my best to stay 'out of the cornfield' : )."
