Just the title line alone "Let me show you the world in my eyes" is one of my all time favorites...i'm currently using it as a quote in my email sig next to the URL for my site...since it signifies getting to know a person inside and sharing what's in your head with them.
Lovely as the lyrics are, this is a song that must be heard as well - pure bliss. Even if i'm not making it but just listening, music's very important to me and songs like these i can totally and completely fall in love with probably easier than i can fall in love with a person...if that makes sense. This is one that just gets down in my soul with the music, the words, and Dave Gahan's voice and completely makes me melt. If anyone ever wanted to seduce me (very hypothetical situation i know, but bear with me), all it would take would be this song in the background! Even hearing the song in my head as i type this gets my heart racing! The power of words and music. If i ever wrote something that produced such a strong emotional reaction to even one person, it would be perhaps my greatest honor.
A fun memory attached to this song: i remember really hitting things off with a really fun great girl named Lorie during a rehearsal retreat for the Phoenix College Chamber Singers - we spent a lot of time discussing/comparing tastes in music and this song was fairly recent at the time. A group of us later played Encore which is a game where teams have to come up with song lyrics for a certain word - Lorie and i were on the same team, and the moment we got the word "ship" we just both looked at each other, knew we were thinking completely alike and simultaneously started singing "Let me put you on a ship/On a long long trip/Your lips close to my lips" I think we blew everyone else away at that moment with that instantaneous mindmeld!
Other songs that have a similar "mood enhancing" effect on me would include The Beloved's "Time After Time", Eurythmics' "Put the Blame On Me" (heck, practically the entire Savage album!), and most songs by Chris Isaak...especially "Blue Hotel".
