1932 Mullins Teardrop VW Bus Trailer
The latest project @ Metalkraft [VW/Porsche restorations] is this old Ford / Mullins trailer converted to be a VW Bus trailer now.
2 Bus bumpers were cut down to form a new bumper for the trailer. It was made from a pre-64 "Slash " front and a pre-71 rear bumper. Both over riders were cut down 1 inch and new ends created.
I added the Oval Beetle tailights & '58 license light. My Bus is running on the same Empi 5-Spokes, so I had the trailer adapted to the same bolt pattern. Now I have The same 6 rims and a matching spare. I can't wait to finish this and paint to match 2-tone.
Preparing the Bus
I started restoring the back of the Bus. It was crashed in the lower 1/4 panel. As I replaced the panel I installed a new battery tray. Notice the custom hitch designed to tow the trailer. The hitch hides inside the bumper which allows me to use a performance exhaust.
