World's smallest Babushka Cat!

I decided to wrap Princess Sugar Pie up in a blanket and then take a picture of her. It turned out better than I thought it would. It is one of my favorite pictures taken of her. I try to take most of the photos of her myself while using a 7.1 MP digital camera. A 7.1 MP photo can make a giant 14 x 18 enlargement with very good resolution. The more mega pixels the bigger the enlargement can be while still being very sharp.

Note: Some more photo tips are listed below!

I remember just a couple or three years ago when a 7.1MP or 8MP camera cost nearly $1,000.00 dollars. Now you can find some 10MP cameras for less than $500.00 dollars with prices still falling every few months. Photography has really changed since I was a "Teaching Assistant" in Photography and Darkroom Techniques at Southwestern Community College, back in the early 80's. I'll probably never go back to 35mm again. Also, the photo printers are really something now. I highly recommend the Cannon IP6700D for home use, medium use or noncommercial work. I own one of these and they print up to 9600 x 2400 dpi. The IP6700D is also rated one of the best photo printers that you can buy. It uses 6 ink tanks. I remember fumbling around on the darkroom floor trying to find the bottle opener and 35mm color cartridge after I dropped it all in total darkness. Now, I just click a button. I even refill my own ink tanks too. That isn't very hard to do with alittle practice. Re-inks.com offers some good quality inks for the DYI. It is good to make a test print or contact sheet of your photos on your printer before you add any pictures to your web page. That way you can select the best ones or make any final adjustments you need to make before adding them. This will save you alot of time in the long run. The digital era of photography makes adding photos to a web page so easy now.

Photos for web pages need to be compressed to around "200,000" bytes or less, each. Otherwise, it takes them to long to load. I found this problem out, first hand, when I built this web page. Most of these photos were compressed to around "160,000 to 180,000" bytes from over "360,000" bytes. This also reduces the storage amount in your scrapbook which is another added benefit. A good tool to use for this is "Net Mechanics.com". Their link is at the end of Princess Sugar Pie's web page. You can compress your photos on their website without down loading any software. They still retain their sharpness and most of their colors too. "Image Magick .com" is another website that I highly recommend. I used "Image Magick" to add "picture frames" to my website's photos and " thumbnails" to my "banners". Again, check out "Image Magick.com"! They do have some wonderful tools to decorate and resize your website photos! I would still be lost, while trying to figure things out, if I hadn't used "Net Mechanics" and "Image Magick". They work!

Now back to Sugar Pie! Some of her photos have been entered in Parade Magazine's Snap shot section. Sugar Pie is a one of a kind cat, therapy aminal, show cat and pet to me. At some point, I would like to get her involved in pet advertisements or pet commercials. I think that she would be great doing that. Don't you?

Photo was taken by me. LJB

I hope that you have enjoyed visiting Princess Sugar Pie's web page so far. Please tell your friends about it and visit is often. I picked the best pictures of her that I know that you will like. Sugar Pie and I Thank you for visiting. Bye for now! May God bless! <;0)

Some interesting facts about cats!

  • Cats can be trained by using the clicker method. If the cat becomes board during the training session, try it again later.
  • Daddy cats usually care of their kittens after the mother cat weans them.
  • Leash train cats by getting them a pet harness with top and bottom straps. Let them get used to wearing it first. Then let them walk around the house on a loose leash for a few days before putting tension on it with your hand. Note: Never, ever leash train a cat while hooking the leash to it's collar. Always, hook the leash to the cat's harness instead. A cat's neck is very delicate and very prone to injuries.,,
  • A cats normal body temperature usually is 101 degrees F. Cats are kittens until they are 9 months old!
  • A cats friendly personality is often due to their daddy's tolerance of humans. If a cat is not overly friendly toward humans, then blame it on their Daddy. It is his fault.
  • Try to reward cats with treats when they do something positive.
  • Most cat commercials emphasize a cats ability to run, jump, be still, climb, grab and hold things or just knead.
  • Most cat fancier society's don't allow cats to be declawed for showing.
  • Most cat shows have cats shown in individual rings for each class.
  • Cat show officials and or judges recommend that cats have their claws trimmed the night before the cat show.
  • When cats have one or both parents that are unknown, they are classified as domestic short hairs, DSH or domestic long hairs, DLH cats. Most if not all cat breeds evolved from the classic Tabby cat breed.
  • Cats are breeds, not purebreads like dogs or horses can be.
  • Cats are mainly judged on their appearance, grooming, coloration and or color pattern.
  • The household pet division's class of show cats are judged mainly on their uniqueness, personality and then their grooming. They are ususlly DSH cats or DLH cats. The CFA HHP does not have a real written standard of judging like their other Cat Divisions or classes have. The ACFA & TICA have their own standards for their HHP Division and they also award points, ( ie, point system) for each cat show throughout the year! Princess Sugar Pie is classified as a DSH Tortoise & White under CFA HHP guidelines. Her Daddy, Mr. Boots would be classified as a DLH Red Tabby and her brother, Mr. Maxx, would be classified as a Manx breed of cat. Maxx was gray and white in color with tabby markings. I can still see Mr. Boots when I look at Sugar Pie. She inherited alot of his own characteristics, coloration and habits. It is very sad that her daddy and brother are no longer with us. I still miss and love Mr. Boots and Mr. Maxx very much to this day. Mr. Boots would be so proud of his daughter cat, Sugar Pie.
  • Therapy cats are not very common like therapy dogs are. Tortoiseshell Cats seem to make the be best Therapy Cats and Service Animal Cats!
  • Therapy aninals can also be horses and monkeys.
  • Therapy animals must meet strict guidelines in some states such as California.
  • Therapy animals do not have to meet as strict a guidelines that service animals have to meet. Hospitals only alow Service Animals and Therapy Animals to enter. Therapy Animals are not considered Service Animals by law eventhough they provide a service to people. It is not known whether that will change or not sometime in the near future. It is ironic that I can take Princess Sugar Pie into dining areas in nursing homes and hospitals but not be able to take her into grocery stores or restaurants like Service Animals can be. Therapy Animals should get more recognition like Service Animals get.
  • Therapy animals can take anywhere from 2 to 3 years to train. Note: see "SARA", "Delta Society" or "Love On A Leash" for more information about "Therapy Animals" & "Service Animals" ....
  • Service animals take anywhere from 5 to 7 years to train.
  • Cats can be used as service animals that assist persons with hearing loss or assist persons who are prone to seizures.
  • Calico kittens can also be males but it is very rare. One cat of ours had two Calico males in her litter.
  • A Tortoise shell cat is considered it's own breed of cat . Tortoise shell cats are considered rare. Princess Sugar Pie is classified as a DSH Tortoise & White cat.
  • A Manx cat is considered a breed of cat and has it's own class in cat shows. It suffers from a genetic mutation that results in it's lack of a tail. Manx cats are considered to be rare. A litter of nornal kittens could contain a Manx cat.
  • Always try to feed your cat dry food because their eating to much wet canned food can cause bladder infections. Make sure that your cats are vaccinated eash year. Please control the cat population by having your cat spayed or neutered. There are so many feral cats living without homes! Feral cats can make someone a wonderful pet... Princess Sugar Pie is a good example of that happening.
