Native American Indian Association of Indiana Inc.

February 1,2002

Dear Educator;

The Native American Indian Association of Indiana a not- for- profit organization, also known as NAIAOFIND, was founded in 1998. Our purpose is to facilitate the preservation and perpetuation of the Native American Indian Culture through observation, education, support, enlightenment, encouragement and unified participation. We held our first traditional gathering (POWWOW) in 1998.

This year we will be hosting a kid's educational day as part of our traditional gathering. We are inviting local schools to participate on Friday August 23, 2002. We will be limiting the First Annual Kids day to students currently enrolled in the fourth (4th) and fifth (5th) grade. (We have hopes of expanding this in the years to come for other grade levels.)  We hope that your school will take advantage of this learning experience and plan for your students to attend.  This day will be a unique opportunity to give children a better understanding of Native American Indian Cultures and Traditions.

Our people are excited to be able to share our traditions with the fourth and fifth grade children of the community. There will be Native American Indian dwellings set up in a village environment complete with a traditional Story Teller to take us back in time and experience life as the Native American Indian's lived. Samples of Traditional Native American foods will be available for a minimum cost to the children .25 - .75 cents. A large variety of Native American Indian crafts will be available for show and our vendors will have small items the children will be able to purchase for under $5.00 at the end of the presentation.

Special activities are planned for the children throughout the session. Each class will be able to choose 2 activities that appeal to the educational format of the classroom. We will start the day at 9:00am on Friday and continue throughout the day until approximately 4:30pm. The sessions will cover a variety of topics and will be held in a rotation type format. (Please see enclosed tentative schedule of activities the classrooms may choose from.) We will have our own staff available to help instruct and rotate the children from activity to activity.

Participation fee will be $1.00 for each child. Children will receive a ticket to come back throughout the weekend with their parents. Children who participate will not have to pay any additional fees to re-enter the grounds during the entire weekend, Parents pay only the regular $5.00 admission fee. Teacher's, chaperones and the bus driver will be admitted to the grounds for free on Friday the 23rd.

Space is limited as a well as the number of hours in the day. So please RSVP as soon as possible to ensure your schools participation. Success this year will lead to expansion in the following years.

For further information please contact us no later than April 22nd. 2002. Please remember that we will schedule on a first come first serve basis when the sessions fill we will have to turn schools away.

When registration is at maximum capacity we will contact each participating school to schedule a time one of our representatives can come to the school and speak with the children about the upcoming event. We will also do everything we can to work with the teachers to include information the children will be studying about the Native American Indian's throughout the school year.

We are excited and pleased to offer this opportunity to our local schools, and are hoping you will join us on Friday, August 23.2002

Sincerely,
Morning Wolf
