How many tablespoons are in 1/4 cup?

A: There are 4 tablespoons in 1/4 cup.

If I am out of brown sugar,is there anything that I can substitute for it?

A: Yes,mix 2 tablespoons of molasses with 1 cup of white sugar.

If a recipe says to use unsweetened baking chocolate,can I use baking cocoa?

A: Yes. For each square or baking chocolate,substitute 3 tablespoons of baking cocoa and 1 tablespoon of shortening or oil.

My recipe calls for buttermilk but all I have is regular milk.Can I use that instead?

A: You can if you use 1 tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice per cup of milk. It is also how you sour milk if a recipe says to use sour milk.

How much flour do I need to thicken broth or meat juices for gravy?

A: You can use 2 tablespoons of flour per cup of liquid or 1 tablespoon of cornstarch.
