MICHIGAN TWIN 56TH ANNUAL CONVENTION

 JACKSON, MICHIGAN
June 21, 22, & 23, 2002

Yes, Twins, we ARE having a convention this year!!!!! However, the city the convention will be held in has changed. Due to the unavailability of hotel rooms in the Otsego/Kalamazoo area, we have had to change our convention site from Otsego to Jackson. We hope this will not inconvenience anyone.

Jackson has a number of fun things to see and do.

On Saturday, we would like to get a group together to go to the Michigan Space & Science Center. This is open from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. (It's also open Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.) The cost is $4.00 for adults and $2.75 for students and seniors. It is about 8 miles from our convention hotel.
The Michigan Space & Science Center is the midwest's only museum completely dedicated to mankind's efforts to explore space. It is the home to many unique and interesting artifacts from the entire history of America's space program. Many of the artifacts on display were provided by NASA, the Smithsonian's National Air & Space Museum, or private donors; the estimated value of the collection is over 30 million dollars.
The Michigan Space & Science Center also provides visitors with a number of hands-on experiences. Among the many things there are to do, visitors can view a moon rock through a microscope, look at rare photos of the moon's surface through 3-D glasses, try their hand at working with a glove box, see what they would weigh on other planets, or pretend to fly in the Mercury capsule simulator.

After visiting the various local attractions, those attending may want to go back to their hotel rooms to rest. Dinner won't be until about 7:30 p.m.

Then after dinner, there are Jackson's famous Cascades Illuminated Waterfalls to visit. The falls are open until 11 p.m.
The Cascades Waterfalls are "a family summertime tradition" since 1932. Some visitors prefer to view the colorful waterfalls and listen to beautiful music from the comfortable seats provided, while others climb to the top of the falls while dodging spraying water. There is a $3.00 entrance fee. A trip to the Falls is enjoyable for all ages.

Please Come to our 56th Annual Convention for a great time!

History of the Michigan Twins Association

The Michigan Twins Association (MTA) was organized following a convention of the International Twins Association (ITA) in Grand Rapids, MI, in 1946. Annual conventions, or reunions, have been held each June since that time, meeting in many different cities and towns in Michigan.
The purpose of the organization is social, to give twins a chance to meet with other twins and families of twins, and enjoy special twin fellowship.

Membership in the Michigan Twins Association

Membership requires that the members be born twins, or multiples, and one reside in the State of Michigan. Twins outside Michigan may become associate members upon payment of the annual registration/membership fee.
Current registration/membership: $10 per twin age 18 and over: $2 per twin through age 17. Membership dues are used to defray expenses, including mailing costs, and contest awards.
