Stupid lists

Why "Stupid lists"?

I hate making lists of stuff I own. Why? You move things around and stuff falls, crashing to the floor. It proves nothing, except that you spend a lot of time organizing info, you give unsuspecting people a good idea what you own and therefore invite them, if they know where you live and when you're gone, to break in and steal your precious treasures. I have a collection of Atari 2600 videogame cartridges, but I never keep a list because I am one of those people who know when they see a game cartridge they don't have.

I also have a decent collection of Atari 8-bit computer related magazines, all of them indexed. I did this years ago before I delved deep into Japanese anime and manga. So now, I add a collection of CDs, Manga, and fansubs to that. I even kept track of my comic book and U.S. licensed Sailor Moon goods on my computer for a while until the comic book database filled the disc I put it on.

Fansub traders usually don't like to go fishing asking about stuff you may or may not have. I know what I got, and can tell you whether not if I have a certain tape. Why don't I keep a list? Because I don't want people to know what I got. You look for one tape and end up asking for 12. I don't mind sharing tapes if you're not picky, and I usually do it for close friends. I wouldn't mind trading (if I can) with nice people.

So, in the general interest column, are my Stupid Lists of stuff.

THIS PAGE IS FAMOUS!!

On August 27, 2004, My list page made it to #2 here, "Blather Shitegeist: The Top 10 Lists of All Time!"

Yes, I do know what blather means, but I'm so good at it, I don't care!

What they had to say:
"2. Mr Andrew Floyd (who?) lists the stuff he owns. Modest, lo-fi, and real."

Comments one user posted:
"Mr Andrew Floyd is an interesting one ... though I profess more than a passing interest in Manga anime previously his Manga music collection is very disturbing. ..."

"JBR-5045-2 Animetoonz presents Kikuko Inoue (Horrible dance remixes of popular anime songs, in spite of the nice vocals Kikuko-sama gives them)"

"Ahem .. More I will not say ; D"

  • 5341-2 Ichigo Marshmallow original soundtrack

  • 5211-2 Ai Yori Aoshi soundtrack #1 "Sakura"

  • 5345-2 Bottle Fairy Image Album "Four Seasons" - This one is more like a soundtrack CD for the TV anime series. There's a 2nd Image Album but it's more drama than music. Still, it'd be nice to see Geneon release it with an English translated booklet.

  • 5269-2 Hanaukyou Maids La Verite original sound track - This is NOT the music for the original Hanaukyou Maids anime which was 15-minute 15 episodes long (because Ikuyou taped over the last 3), so that opening theme isn't on this CD (the La Verite opening isn't as good in my opinion).

  • JBR-5045-2 Animetoonz presents Kikuko Inoue (Horrible dance remixes of popular anime songs, in spite of the nice vocals Kikuko-sama gives them)

  • PSYDOLL (No number, and not really an anime CD. It's a J-Rock CD for as much as I can tell. You can find out more at Psydoll's website

  • And then there's stuff I have only as CD burns until I buy pressed copies, like a bunch of Azumanga Daioh stuff, Miracle Girls soundtrack, the 2 rare Kaitou Saint Tail Voice File CDs, the Kaitou Saint Tail musical soundtrack, and Seiko Matsuda's single "Let's Go Running Towards Tomorrow" which was not released on any Kaitou Saint Tail CD at the request of the artist. Why? I don't know. Some people are so anal.

Add to that mix the first 2 Tokyo Mew Mew OST CDs and the character singles, 3 for Ashita no Nadja, including the opening and ending songs, Pretty Cure soundtrack, Cardcaptor Sakura OST V.3, Tiny Snow Fairy Sugar Music Note 1, DearS OST (I will get a pressed copy from Right Stuf ASAP), Search for the Full Moon Final Live, Petite Princess Yucie OST and OP/ ED singles (these were hard to find!), Wedding Peach Dream Collection, Bottle Fairy Image Album #2...

And then there are these 5 Jpop CDs we found one year in 2004 while in Toronto for Anime North that year, found on the floor of the parking garage at Dragon City in Toronto's Chinatown area. They are: HIRO's Brilliant, various tracks from DA PUMP, Koyanagi Yuki, Morning Musume, and finally a mysterious mix CD which has 4 tracks left to be identified.

Prints and Posters!

What kind of anime fan would I be if I didn't collect prints and posters of the characters I like to look at? An anime fan with barren walls, that's what! I finally got the bright idea to note which posters I have by the number that's usually on one corner.

If anyone has tips for making tabular lists rather than just rote vertical lists, I'd love to know. ^_^

In no particular order:

Sailor Moon
2490, 1764, 2487, 2567, 2732, 2621, 2618, 2380, 2419, 2589, 2066, 2592, 2649, 2049, 2335, 2062, 2729, 2620, 2593, 2568, 2067, 2051, SS849, SS895, LM2698, SS690

(I think I have a few others that I've not noted their numbers. ^_^;;)

Ranma 1/2
2632, 2367, 2053, 2428, 2180, 2212, SS1011, SS1013, SS451

Others

  • Urusei Yatsura - 2512 (and 2 others without numbers)

  • Magic Knight Rayearth - SS914, 2229

  • Neon Genesis Evangelion - 2870, 3245 (and I do believe I have one more Rei poster I still need to find)

  • Mamotte Shugogetten! - 8-085, 8-086

  • Sakura Taisen - 2636

  • Tenchi Muyou! - SS805

  • Card Captor Sakura - 3106

  • Cool Devices - 2 unnumbered posters

  • Masamune Shirow - AF106, AF107, HC 151

  • Android Announcer Maico - 3096

  • Digi Charat - 3565, 3566 (I have the other half of the image on this one)

I don't naturally have all these up all at the same time. I don't have the room! And I don't rotate them on some sort of random schedule - I'm a bit lazy about something like that so I just put up the ones I like a lot with mounting squares or push pins. I try to go for female characters I like, especially in swimsuits. I have a nice Mirari Oozora Race Queen poster I got free from Pioneer a few years back. I'd prefer it be a front view, but any view on Mirai wearing a swimsuit is fine by me. ^_^ If you want to see what I might have up, just try matching these poster numbers to ones being sold and you might find them. Some are hard to find today. ^_-
