Born in Coopers, he was the son of the late Elbert Lee Harris, Sr. and Dora Jane Bell Harris. He was a resident of Coopers all of his life. He was a retired employee of N & W Railway and a member of the Bramwell Masonic Lodge No. 45. He was also a veteran of World War 1. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Waldron Harris; one step-son, Bobby Lee Thompson of Kissimmee, Fla.; four sisters, Dorothy Carter of Pocahontas, Va., Lyndell Mae Wilburn of Radford, Va., Edith Butt of Coopers and Lois Fleming of California; two brothers, Elbert Lee Harris, Jr. of Warren, Ohio and George Benjamin Harris of Lynchburg, Va., and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p. m. at Rodriguez-Pocahontas Union Funeral Home in Pocahontas with Rev. Nathan Hawks officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Masonic Lodge No. 45 of Bramwell will be in charge of graveside rites. Lodge members will serve as pallbearers. Friends will serve as flowerbearers.
