LANCASTER COUNTY'S DIRTY LITTLE SECRET

TAKING A TOUR OF LANCASTER COUNTY, PA?

This is what you WON'T SEE........

You won't see a healthy animal from a puppy mill

My personal feelings:

For a while I've been aware of puppy mills, especially in our Amish and Mennonite countryside, but after reading about the last bust on a particular puppy mill in yesterday's Lancaster paper, I was inspired to do some research. This is merely a fraction of the cruelty and sadness connected with the puppy business. I have never been in favor of the Alaskan Klee Kai being accepted by AKC, but the links show what might, or probably will happen, when our precious breed is ever accepted by AKC. One link is about research of AKC. Interesting.......

Researching cruelty and puppy mills takes a lot of time. Keeping our Alaskan Klee Kai out of these extremely sad and horrendous situations, is the responsibility of AKK breeders. At this point, we are still a small group and have some control over where our puppies and dogs go. I suggest careful screening of potential owners, including phone calls before placing and contact after placing, with a reasonable return policy. And, if the dog is going to a pet home, make sure you get a copy of the completed surgery signed by the vet.

Thanks to Ann Westphal, we already have Precious Paws AKK Rescue in place and working. Let's pray that it won't be necessary to use it. After all, it takes much time and energy..........so, being a lazy person, I prefer to prevent problems which could escalate into major ones in tracking down Alaskan Klee Kai in the wrong places.

I could run on forever, but won't since we are all busy. Please take the time to read at least one of the links and discover what the beauty and uniqueness of Lancaster Co, Pa is covering up.

Thanks,
Ruth
