Formed in 1981 as an ofc club, then going on to be an ASFA member club, the Northwest Coursing Club switched to AKC in 1993. A highlight of the club is our EMERALD SPLASH, first held in 1989 here at our Kharkov Farm in Auburn, Washington. Dawn Runk, Nirvana Basenjis' came up with the appropriate name for the event. There are three days of lure tests and trials on Thanksgiving weekend. We share the weekend with the Evergreen Basenji Club. Hounds that are entered all three days and who win Best of Breed at least one of the days, are eligible to run for the EMERALD SPLASH "Best of the Best." In 1989, 1990 & 1992 the Splash was ASFA & BIF was not offered. The event was not held in 1991.
