| OUTBACK ADVENTURES |
|
|
Outback Adventures has been outfitting for 21 years. We are one the largest canoe and kayak rentals on the Allegheny River, if not the largest. We have been renting kayaks for 10 years now and have over 60 kayaks in our stable, giving us the largest number and selection in the area. |
Spring is the best time for streams that are only accessible through May. Tionesta Creek, in the ANF, offers excellent fishing, bird-watching, and abundant wildlife in pristine natural settings. Great for kayaking.
During the summer months, the Allegheny River is perfect for all your outdoor recreation. The river maintains a perfect water level. The many Allegheny National Forest islands provide great camping for overnight trips.
We offer 2-5 hour day trips and 2-3 day overnight trips, all ending up back at your car. Our hike-float trips let you explore the forest by foot to the river, then complete your adventure by canoe. We also have available lodging, Tipi camping along the river, RV hook-ups and primitive campsites.
We SET-UP these 2-room cabin tents for you on the day of arrival. All you need is your cooler and bedding. The tent is ready for you, with a screened in porch, table and chairs, and a Queen size air mattress. The sites are located on the edge of the Allegheny River. Enjoy the beautiful view while you toss a line in. This is a perfect way to try camping without buying all the gear. Also, great for the motorcyclist that has to pack light.
Kids love kayaking! The Allegheny's Class I, placid waters, and recreational kayaks, make it perfect for beginners. For a one on one adventure with nature, a kayak is a great way for the solo fisherman to get away, and fishing on the Allegheny is great. We have smallmouth bass, walleye, muskie, trout, and pike. Turkey and whitetail hunting trips are available.
From our riverfront campground you can take a river trip and paddle back to your tepee or campsite. The tepees come with electric. Prices start at $35 per night for a family, $45 for 2 couples or a group of 4, and $60 per night for a group of 6. Camping prices are $15 per night for RVs with water and electric hook-up, and $10 per night per tent, or $5 per person (excluding children). We have hot showers and flush toilet. Canoe and kayak prices are by the trip, starting at $20 per boat. Free transportation, paddles and jackets are included. We can accommodate company picnics, family reunions, scouts, and youth groups. We are always happy to plan a trip to suit your needs. For a list of trips and prices see below.

Pick up a paddle and journey back. A canoe offers the naturalist an excellent way of transportation, providing its passengers an experience that the early explorers and Native Americans used as a roadway through the wilderness. Escape with us. |
