Cut / Copy / Paste
Cut/ copy/paste----in a nutshell:
Hold down the Cmd key and press A, to highlight everything.
Hold down the Cmd key and press C (copy), to copy highlighted text and store it in memory.
Hold down the Cmd key and press V (paste), to transfer it to a write screen or editing area .
If you don't want to highlight and copy everything on a page, then:
Hold down the Cmd key and press F,
Then enter the beginning text of the area that you want to copy, then press "Find on Page".
The phrase you entered will be highlighted and you can highlight more of the text by:
Holding down the "shift" key and press any of the arrows:
- "right" arrow will highlight more text to the right
- "left" arrow will highlight more text to the left
- "up" arrow will highlight additional lines above
- "down" arrow will highlight additional lines below
Once you have highlighted the text you want to copy,
Hold down the Cmd key and press C (copy)--to copy the highlighted portion and store it in memory.
Then hold down the Cmd key and press V (paste)--to transfer it to a write screen or editing area.
That's copying and pasting above.
The only place you can "cut" text is where you are able to type things in---lke e-mail and html editing areas.
Place your cursor at the beginning of the area you want to cut, and highlight the text you want to cut by:
Holding down the "shift" key and press any of the arrows:
- "right" arrow will highlight more text to the right
- "left" arrow will highlight more text to the left
- "up" arrow will highlight additional lines above
- "down" arrow will highlight additional lines below
Once you have highlighted the text you want to "cut",
Hold down the Cmd key and press X (cut),
and the text will disappear and be stored in memory.
If you want to place that text elsewhere, use
Cmd plus V to paste it elsewhere.
When you use the Cmd plus F method, and enter a phrase or word into the area, and press "find on page", if it doesn't highlight the particular word that you were expecting,
Hold down Cmd and press G---to advance it to the next occurrence of the word or phrase;
or use Cmd and press B---to backtrack to a previous occurrences of the word or phrase.
